Admiral Park

Architect and urbanist Rubio Kingsley first ideallized the project in 1968, as a memorial to the fallen hero Colonel Shore, a citizen of Carracosta and veteran of two wars. Rubio wrote to city hall in attempts to have rights to start the project on land near the lighthouse, watching over the horizon, however a few councilmember opposed the project at every turn. The architect attempted to pass the project four times before moving on new projects.   During the following six years, Rubio would gain renown as the architect for the planned city Emberia, the nation's capital that was built from the ground up. At that same period, a new hero took on the title of Hero of Carracosta: Admiral. Not having the extensive past with war, his persona was considered less controversial than Shore's and slowly his reputation rose to national hero.   Taking in the hero's increased popularity, Rubio's partner began convincing councilmembers and Secretary of Infraestructure in a slow plan to finally start his friend's dream. At the same time, a proposal was launched in City Hall about renovating the destroyed White Rock Park, after another conflict between heroes and villains.   While the original design took in consideration an area near the docks, the pruposed area of White Rock Park was bigger than the project Rubio first had in mind which would allow for new features and brought new challenges. After entering the design competition, pointing out the park should also be used to revitalize the region which was integral to local history, Rubio and his parther won the design and later the bidding for actually constructing the project with a communal bid.   The project was signed by Rubio's office, a construction company and two investors, during bidding in 1977 and broke ground in 1978. Despite expectations, the project took nearly twice the expected time, only inaugurating in late 1981 in a ceremony attended by heroes and civilians alike. The project was not actually finished until 1983, when a few additional statues and trails were concluded.

Structure

Rubio's original project was much smaller than White Rock, and included only a central plaza with the main statue, a playground, an area for outdoor exercise, some trails and well kept flora. Since White Rock boasted much bigger area than the original plan, Rubio slowly added further into the project, including: four artificial lakes, fourteen plazas, six of which with fountains, six areas for kiosks and stands, an aquarium and a werehouse structure for indoor events.   Other parts of the project were requirements of City Hall, as features that had existed or were planned for White Rock before the clash of 1963: two distinct amphitheaters, a pet park, public washrooms in various parts of the park, bridges, archways, bike trails, sports fields, skating rink, additional paths and areas for restaurants and bars, and much more. Smaller statues have also been added to honor other heroes, by request of Admiral.

Uses

Admiral Park is the largest public urban park in the estate, and the third largest in the country. It is an important part of day-to-day and iconic location in Carracosta.

HeroCON

In 1980, before the official inauguration, HeroCON Organizer Helenio Salsus signed a ten-year contract with then Carracosta Parks Office's Chief Comissioner, Marcel Andreas. The contract stated that HeroCON would be able to use almost a fourth of the park's area every year for the second weekend of January.   The area is the closest to Carracosta Heroic History Museum, and included the main statue, three plazas, a playground, many trails and allowed for temporary restriction of access within the event's area.   The agreement between Parks Office and the HeroCON Organization also guarantees part of the revenue from tickets and stands to go to cleaning and revitalizing the park. Other demands of the Parks Office include the addition of at least a third of the stands to be from local businesses.
