This flavourful dish from South Novalma's native cuisine has been a secret dish for many centuries. First introduced to Middlelander and the world at large during the 17th century peace talks, it is readily available at
Kuarassi City's food stands as a popular thick soup.
Actually named Iykobu'rae in
Archaic Novalma (
Iy meaning soup or broth,
kob meaning that brings or bring,
rae meaning life or birth) which is often translated to Soup that Brings Life, or Vitalizing Soup. The real name was introduced
after the soup came to Emberly. First named after the ambassador
Ambrosious Baromel, it's true name was only introduced in 1940, however the nickname remained.
Description
The food is a liquid with meats and vegetables, added with natural spices from the Sun-Protected Forest. With a thickness closer to stew or milkshakes, it can be both drunk from a cup or eaten with a spoon from a bowl. Most common food stands, however, serve the food on a bag made of animal skin or vegetal fiber, meant to torn so a person can drink from it.
Different cultures within the Forest, given their access to game or seasons, have differing recipes for Iykobu'rae. This results in Iykobu'raes of varying colors, thought the most popular are of a yellow color with potatoes and herbs, with the possibility of adding meat.
The cold version of Iykobu'rae is called
Blykobu'rae, which is rich on fruits, drunk in summer. It also includes shaved ice for a thicker drink.
History
The ambassador Ambrosious Baromel was the first to brought the dish out of Sun-Protected Forest in the 17th century. It was a popular hit with Emberly's imperial family, however the dish could not be replicated by their cooks and would later become only a reference. Records state that the emperor was so satisfied with the exchange that he promoted the ambassador and gave him a province on the border with the Sun-Protected Forest in hopes the now governor would stablish trades to bring more of the cuisine into Emberly.
Ambrosious was not particularly successful on this endeavor, as the locals would not meet again with the man and kept recusing contact. Still the food was named Ambrosious Delightful Gift, shifting to Ambrosious' Delight, and later
Ambrosia's Delight.
