The Kuarassi

The Kuarassi is both the name and rank of the leader, representative and guardian of the civilizations within Sun-Protected Forest. They are also the governant of Kuarassi City, advised by the Council of Halo.
When an individual is annointed The Kuarassi, they are considered to have ascended being both a new person and having never existed. The process often start before the rituals and ascession, guaranteeing an easier process of erradicating the past of the candidates.

Etymology

From Archaic Novalma, kuarassi means Sun (kua meaning light, ru meaning beginning and as'i meaning day). Transcribed tales speak of two kuarassi's: the celestial star and eternal flame, and the light that casts away Darkness initianting a new era for Novalma civilizations.

Sucession

A process that begins shortly after an ascension, supers that wish to become Kuarassi pilgrimage to Kuarassi City and must survival in Pyhua'aity, Night's Nest. How long the candidates must survival inside Pyhar'aity is directly related to how long the Kuarassi lives. Any candidate that die during the trials are rescued and given an honorable funeral, their family given rewards proportional to how long they survived inside.
When the Kuarassi days, all candidates are given a choice to leave Pyhar'aity and join on the Solar Arena for a final trial given by the people. The trials are chosen through popular vote and there are as many trials are there are candidates. If by the end of trials there are two or more candidates with equal trials won, the Chiefs Council choses a final trial with the tied candidates.
The final victor is given a parade and the Ascension happens. When the Ascension is over, the new Kuarassi's previous name and life is stricken from record.

Miris

Teens and childs with the blood of previous Kuarassi, the Kuarassi Miri are considered favourites to ascension, as superpowers are often genetics.

Hero Kuarassi Miri

Originally a Kuarassi Miri that didn't return to the trials, his sidekick took the mantle and title after his death on the '82 Carracosta Conflict. With a secret identity, their connection to the Native Novalma is unknown, however the Council of Halo continues to advocate for a official exhile and making the Kuarassi Miri persona non grata to all Sun-Protected Forest.
Still, the hero's position and continuous advocate for native's right, the Halo's loud demands have not been met by The Kuarassi.
