American Imbued

An culture consisting not of shared origin but of shared fate, American Imbued are all people with superpowers living in the United States. Like in many Western countries, Imbued in America face discrimination and hatred over their abilities, which in turn has led to them grouping together. A shared culture of fear unites them.   Though no law exists which represses them, common culture and general society make it happen nonetheless. While public perception has been changing, bettering, many Imbued still rely on shared culture with each other over help from Mundane. For example, many Imbued help each other with their powers, training and figuring out control, lest they lose control in public... or repress themselves to the point of an Overflow. They also offer places to each other where their powers can be safely used and explored, without judgment.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Imbued occur among all peoples, and thus speak speak all languages spoken within the US. They have no language of their own, though some groups may put together codes for secrecy, or develop specialized signs for sign languages, should they find existing signs lacking for their needs.

Shared customary codes and values

The culture of Imbued relies first and foremost on secrecy. All Imbued, and a number of Mutants, can hide in plain sight by looking just like Mundane people. Their powers, and Mutant traits, are thus kept hidden, and only shown and used in private spaces, with other Imbued. Because of this, community is also an important value. They rely on their fellow Imbued to keep their secrets, to help with control over their powers, to offer spaces where they can use their abilities without endangering themselves or others.

Common Etiquette rules

Because secrecy is so important to Imbued, secret-keeping is of great value to them. You don't tell anyone not already in the know about other Imbued. You don't threaten the community. You must keep secrets, and keep them well. For your safety, and the safety of everyone else.
