Thetasites (Thet-ah-sights)
The Thetasites are the classification of an alien parasite located on the planet of Catapar at the corner of the Beta Quadrant. The Thetasites are an average intelligence level of 82. Thetasites are classified between three difference species the Largasites, the Catasites, and the Magasites. Each of these hold their own function in the Thetasite colonies.
Thetasites have been possibly extinct for over 50 years after the worlds and soon universes greatest threat Zagara rose and enslaved her species with her aptitude for learning and knowledge. Even their natural predator the Menta-mantis fell to their endless pursuit of unification and experimentation.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
The only type of Thetasites that can actually breed are the Largasites who have large bulbous ovipositer and lay large quantity of Catasites eggs. In a secondary eggs chamber tons and tons of tiny little parasitic Magasites are bred withing milliseconds and are stored till thrown up.
Growth Rate & Stages
Thetasites are originally born as Catasites where it takes several years for them to evolve and grow into Largasites. Catasites grow larger and larger starting from one the size of a poodle to the size of a great dane and eventually to the size of a human. At that point they fly off with all the other catasites and separate to make their own colony slowly turning into Largasites
Ecology and Habitats
The Optimal environment for the Thetasites is a moist damp environment which it found perfectly on its home-world of Catapar. They would settle in huge ravines covered in damp mist and covered in biological material making their colonies within the deep rocky walls of the ravines and caves which shielded them from predators.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Thetasites are omnivores and consume all matters of meats, insects, and fruits.
Behaviour
Thetasites work in a tight knit, insect like, hive mind. This hive mind shares many similarities with ants but with much more control in some aspects. Largasites despise each other. Each one competing for a larger colony and more control. You will never find two largasties amongst a colony. Towards Catasites they are seen as children but as they grow bigger more so a threat. Catasites of other colonies are enemies that must become infested with a new queens Magasites

Social Structure
For Thetasites the top of the structure is the Queen Largasite below them are the Catasites. The larger the Catasite the higher it sits in the caste. In last place comes the enslaved creatures of the hive, all infected with magasites, be it Menta-Mantis's or other Largasite's Catasites.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
All Thetasites exempt for Magasites can see though poorly, touch, and most important sense hearing via vibrations produced by their species.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
The Thestasites are a parasitic species that infests almost all lifeforms upon their homeworld throwing up hordes of Magasites into the bodies of prey and predator alike. Such species are the Fugphids or Polocks
Civilization and Culture
History
Most Thetasite history is nothing major to write home about and besides the small conquests of queen Largasites against other Largasites. For Generations they existed as one with the ecosystem thriving from it and it thriving in turn. Until one fateful day a space ship crashed into the mighty fungal ravines of Catapar. The Largasite that found it was known amongst her kind as Zagara. Zagara was always a more inquisitive creature of her race and finding this vessel showed her that there were things. Things living above their skies. Much of the tech was destroyed and the crew were corpses but the jump drive remained semi-intact. All it required was resources that Zagara could not wrap her mind around.
Largasites would never mind control another Largasite. Their Catasites maybe but to infect one was unheard of. Until Zagara. Her Catasites would raid the caverns of other Largasites and vomit her own Magasites into them possessing and altering their minds to her will. One by one the colonies fell producing her more and more soldiers. The Catasites could rebel and that would not be allowed. With many mind controlled Largasites they would infest magasites into their children's blood locking them into a barely self-functioning horde of creatures only following simplistic commands. Before long they would all fall to the will of Zagara and their race turned into nothing more than breeding slaves.
Each Largasite would eventually be put in main command of a star ship to produce Catasites and the magasites needed to enslave others to their will. Each one sent across the stars to find new races to infest and conquer. Eventually though Zagara would die and from there the mind controled Largasties would break free and settle new worlds or drift forevermore in the cosmos.
