These malevolent beings are born from the restless spirits of those who met tragic ends, denied a proper burial or seeking vengeance for an unjust death. As malicious shapeshifters, Plat-eyes take on various forms, but their most common manifestation is that of a dog with blazing, fiery eyes, an unsettling sight that strikes fear into the hearts of those who dare to cross their path. Bound to the location surrounding their remains, these tormented souls wander lonely roads, terrorizing anyone who dares to venture close. The Plat-eye's haunting presence sends chills down the spine of passersby, its malevolence palpable in the air. Sometimes, it takes on the appearance of the very human it once was, a haunting reminder of the injustice that befell them. Other times, it becomes an invisible force, only revealing its presence through a chilling, suffocating mist that envelopes its victims in fear.

Anatomy

The appearance of the Plat-eye varies depending on the form it takes. When it assumes the guise of a dog, its physical attributes resemble that of a spectral canine. A ghostly, translucent form with wisps of ethereal fur gives it an otherworldly appearance. Its eyes burn with an intense, fiery glow, casting an eerie light in the darkness.

In its human manifestation, the Plat-eye appears as a ghastly figure, its form seemingly stitched together from shadows and sorrow. Its pale skin clings to its spectral frame, and tattered remnants of clothing from its mortal existence drape hauntingly over its body. The eyes retain the same fiery glow betraying its unearthly nature. 

When the Plat-eye becomes an invisible force or a freezing, suffocating mist, it lacks a discernible form, making it even more elusive and terrifying. The freezing mist clings to the air, numbing all it touches and causing a creeping sense of dread in those who feel its presence.

A Plat-Eye can be found virtually anywhere as long as it remains in close proximity to its remains.

The Plat-eye's behavior is driven by a deep-seated rage and a relentless desire for vengeance. As a tormented spirit, it carries the weight of unfinished business and seeks retribution for its mistreatment in life and death. Its psychology is clouded with bitterness and despair, fueling its malevolent actions and haunting presence. The creature's primary objective is to torment and terrify, preying upon the guilty and the careless unlucky, punishing them for what the entity perceives as their transgressions with relentless persistence.
In its animal form, especially as a spectral dog with blazing eyes, the Plat-eye embodies a ferocity and loyalty to its vengeful purpose. It fiercely guards its territory against any and all who would dare to tread there. When it assumes the form of a freezing, suffocating mist or becomes invisible, the Plat-eye becomes an enigmatic and terrifying force of nature. It lurks in the shadows, haunting the very air around its targets, paralyzing them with dread. Its eerie presence induces a sense of claustrophobic fear, leaving victims gasping for breath and unable to escape its chilling grasp.

The Plat-eye possesses heightened sensory and perception abilities, enabling it to haunt its surroundings with eerie vigilance. As a vengeful spirit, it sees and hears far beyond the capabilities of the living, penetrating the darkness and shadows with spectral vision. Its auditory senses are exceptionally acute, capable of detecting the faintest sounds and even the subtlest shifts in the environment. 
In the guise of an animal or a freezing mist, the Plat-eye's senses heighten to a supernatural level. As a spectral dog with blazing eyes, it can track its prey effortlessly through scent, sound, and ethereal senses. When it transforms into an invisible force or a chilling mist, its perception becomes even more uncanny. It can sense the slightest movements, feel the change in temperature, and detect the essence of living beings that encroach upon its territory. It uses this hyper-awareness to stalk and torment its victims.

Abilities:

• Shapeshifting: The Plat-eye can morph into various forms, most commonly appearing as a spectral dog with blazing eyes, but it can also take the shape of other animals or even the ghostly form of its former human self. This ability allows it to adapt to different environments and situations, making it a cunning and elusive adversary. 
• Terrifying Gaze: The Plat-eye's glowing, fiery eyes are more than just a menacing sight. Its gaze can paralyze its victims with fear, rendering them immobile and helpless, making it easier for the creature to strike and exact its revenge. This ability requires the victim to make a (9 to 10) Hard Difficulty Check using a Mind + Body + 1d6 roll or suffer a Paralyzed Effect for one round and an Intense Fear (Level 3) Effect in the following round.
• Ethereal Phasing: As a tormented spirit, the Plat-eye can phase in and out of the physical realm, allowing it to move through walls, objects, and even disappear from sight altogether. This spectral mobility grants it the element of surprise, making it difficult for its targets to predict its movements or escape its clutches.
• Haunting Presence (Human Form): The mere presence of the Plat-eye is enough to create an oppressive atmosphere of fear and dread. Its malevolent aura can make the air grow cold, and the surroundings become suffocating, leaving victims feeling trapped and isolated, generating a Severe Fear (Level 4) Effect once per encounter.
• Phantom Howl (Animal Form): When the Plat-eye is in its spectral dog form (though this can be used in its other animal forms as well), it emits an eerie and chilling howl that echoes through the night. This haunting sound disorients and frightens anyone who hears it, making it challenging for victims to find their bearings or call for help. This ability generates a Severe Fear (Level 4) Effect, failure to resist it resulting in the victim being disoriented for one round and unable to react or defend. This ability may be used once per encounter.
• Soul Draining (Intangible Form): In its intangible, mist form, the Plat-eye has the ability to drain the life force from its prey, leaving them weakened and vulnerable. This draining effect can also cause victims to suffer from exhaustion and hallucinations. This is accomplished by surrounding the victim with its misty form and suffocating them. This results in a (13 to 14) Daunting Difficulty Check that the victim may attempt to resist using a Body + Strength + 1d6 Roll, failure forcing the victim to take 1 point of body damage every round. They may make additional checks every round following until they escape or have perished. This ability may only be used once per encounter.
