The Blue Men

I took inspiration from the Blue Men of Minch and the Drowners in Witcher 3.

The Blue Men are monsters created from men, women, and children who have drowned at sea. These drowned people are possessed by the sea to hunt and devour other humans and turn them into more Blue Men. According to Elven Scholars not all people who fall into the ocean become Blue Men. It is not known what exactly is needed to turn someone who is drowned into a Blue Man.
The Blue Men are also known as ''The Drowned" or "The Drowned Men"
The Blue Men are known to attack people on shore and in the water, dragging them into the water and drowning them. If the Blue Men's victim puts up a fight they can use their long sharp claws to slice the victim limb from limb.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Blue Men resemble the blue bloated corpses of the people who the once were, this is where they get their name from. They have scales and fins on their back and feet to aid them with swimming, and long rock hard claws where they once had fingers.

Biological Traits

The Blue Men gain biological traits from the people they once were. A tall built male who drowns in the ocean may become a strong and large Blue Man.

Genetics and Reproduction

The species does not reproduce. Blue men are made from people falling into the water and drowning. After the body sinks to the murky depths it is reborn into the deformed

Growth Rate & Stages

There are no known stages of growth. The Blue Men are created in their final form.

Ecology and Habitats

The Blue Men are always found near, or in, water. This could either be on the banks of a river, on the beach of sea, or in the ocean, miles from land. The Blue Men do not seem to mind whether the water is clear or mirky, or if the water is fresh or salty. Due to The Blue Men's stable diet of meat, most of them are found in the shallow water on the coasts.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Blue Men eat only meat. This could either be the meat of something scavenged from the sea, or something they have hunted on land. Folk on the continent say that their favourite food is the meat of a human.

Social Structure

The Blue Men live in packs. The size of the packs varies in size from 5 to 50 drowned men. There is no leader or alpha within these packs - they merely gather in packs due to the Blue Men's survival instincts.

Domestication

You'd have better luck taming a Mega Shark. The Blue Men only know aggression towards humans and will attack any human who strays too close.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Blue Men's claws are used as trophies. The longer and thicker the claws, the better the trophy.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Blue Men are found commonly on the Continent. It is hard to find a river or a body of water which does not have at least one pack of Blue Men. The south eastern coast of Terra is swarming with Blue Men, Elven Scholars attribute this to the large amount of pirates in the area.

Average Intelligence

The Blue Men are not very intelligent on average. Their brains are the same size as the humans that they once were but they are waterlogged. It seems that only the survival parts of the brain are used by The Blue Men.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Blue Men have extraordinary underwater sight, smell, and hearing. They can spot a boat in the water up to 2.5 miles away. They can detect a drop of blood in the water from 1 mile away.

Conservation Status

The population of Blue Men is unknown. Elven Scholars believe that there are perhaps hundreds of thousands of Blue Men. There could be many more as Scholars can not count The Blue Men who are in the water or inhabit the deep ocean.

No average height for Blue Men has been recorded, but specimens caught by Elven Scholars range in size from 1.1 meters to 2.5 meters tall
