The Circle of Seekers
"Rotten, rotten, rotten, the Circle is rotten all the way through. They'll surely come knocking to recruit you, Eridia, but don't give in. They don't treasure knowledge, just power." "In all of Talthei, there's not a group more set on unveiling the mysteries of this world than the Circle of Seekers."The Circle of Seekers is an organization devoted to finding and studying ancient artifacts for the purpose of gaining power and using as bartering goods. While never particularly popular as they have been known to be violent towards other academics and explorers they see as competitors, after the Plague of Fliir, they are generally disliked to hated by most individuals for their suspected role in its origin.
Structure
At the top of the organization is the Grand Seeker, who is blinded and is secluded, to constantly meditate and share knowledge with the Seekers. While ostensibly the leader and occasionally called to set a direction of desire for the group, most day-to-day administration is handled by the eight Hands of the Seekers. Below the Hands, Seekers are organized into bands that operate largely independently in the search for artifacts or goods to be studied or used.
Public Agenda
The overarching spoken goal of The Circle of Seekers is to use their knowledge and assets to further their social and political power in Talthei. There is a secret goal of those higher in the organization to achieve eternal life without more than perhaps a monetary cost.
Assets
Due to the mission of the Circle, they have a huge treasury of physical wealth from selling artifacts to academic institutions and independent collectors. As well, the organization has a veritable dragon's hoard of artifacts and books to their organization, both in a collective vault and among individual members.
