Glow Grain
Glow-Grain A stable food for the cultures dwelling under the north western portion global hemisphere is a pseudo-plant that feeds on ambient magic energy and chemicals and minerals found in the pools and lakes that form as they dissolve mineral rich deposits of limestone or are feed by geothermal vents that release minerals into the waters. This plant vaguely resembles rice though its blue-green color is only visible in the magical spectrum to the naked senses only its fruiting grains have a bright bioluminescence (color varies depending on the plants diet) and carry a pungent scent (both of these traits are to attract herbivores to spread its seeds)
Domestic Glow Grain With a its glow persisting even after harvesting or processing into flour this grain can be used to create all manenr of colorful glowing breads, liqueurs, puddings and other dishes. This remarkable trait has given rise to domestication that has reduced the pungency of glow-grains smell and natural flavor and culinary trends where the variety and vibrancy of its glow have become more important than taste with most agreeing that domestic Glow-Grain is exceedingly bland and requires extensive spices to please the palette except among dwarves who have grown glow grain not for its aestheic appeal but with a focus on devloping its rich pungent flavor this dwarven crop resembles rice but its rich diet of sulpher gives it a spicey quality that many surfaces compare to strong onions or Garlic.
