Personal history
Born in the Slouch to a poor family the man who would become the Merchant Prince from Al-Jarrabadh could have never imagined such a change of fortunes. The son of a rat catcher and a cloths washer he was raised with strong work ethic and morals and grew up determined to be better then the people he seen turn to crime or abusing others to get ahead in life.
When a cult of viscous were rat worshipers of a devilish rat deity moved into the sewers and ruins under The Slouch Ali's father was murdered after he refused to take bribes from the Lycanthropes to turn a blind eye to them. Ali watched his father be made into a public example in The Slouch, torn apart by dire-rats in a public square as people watched helplessly. Ali vowed he would avenge his father and bring justice to the monsters who lurked treated the poor and unfortunate like their personal play things.
As he reached adulthood Ali trained his mind and body by any and all means available to him. He studied what few books and scrolls he could afford teaching himself to read well and in mathematics and other mental disciplines. He learned how to fight from disenfranchised mercenaries and soldiers who called the slouch home and mastered every trick and trap his father and the Rat Catchers guild had to offer.
While he was born into the lowly Rat Catchers guild Ali would rise to the pinnacle of that lowly guild going above and beyond mere rat hunting he would reform the guild from the ground up, employ adventurers to provide special training and assistance against were rats, dire rats and other predatory and dangerous beasts and beings that called the under city home. Under his leadership the Rat Catchers became as skilled as any group of monster hunters there was.
His reputation as a master of setting and disarming traps, wielding strange gadgets and alchemical compounds to push the monsters below the city out combined with an incorruptible spirit drew the attention of the aging merchant prince Arsalan Radi. Radi who had long admired courage and steadfast morality would offer Ali his entire fortune for he had no children and wished to see his money used by a man guided by justice and integrity.
Ali reluctantly accepted both the money and became a student of Radi learning the ways of the old cagey merchant. When Arsalan Radi passed away people expected the Rat Catcher to waste his fortunes but to their shock Ali proved able to maintain and even double Radi's fortune in a few short years.
Investing heavily in the poorest and most unfortunate people of his home city and later the entire nation the Rat Catcher Prince is seen almost as a saint by the downtrodden, a charitable guardian who seems larger then life yet very down to earth and with a natural cunning and swift mind that outstrips arrogantly boastful people who brag of their expensive learning. Yet he is often reviled or at best given a harsh respect by criminals who sometimes still look over their shoulders in the city of Al-Jarrabadh in fear that the Rat Catchers shadow is trailing them to drag them to justice or else walk carefully that they do not step into any of his legendary traps.
