Mutilator Fish

An uncommon fish found in deep ocean waters it is a small forager fish that feeds on ambient magical energy and layline plankton with its whisker like filters. Its body is long almost dagger shaped and steel blue with a head the color of bright bloody crimson a warning to potential predators. It gets it name in part due to it appearing like a torturers tool and in part to its ability to process magical energy in a unique form of illusionary self-defense.
When threatened the Mutilator Fish can cause a creature to suffer phantasmal wounds as those who fail their saving throw believe the fish is darting around them slashing as if it was as sharp as a vorpal blade. This effect fades but by the time it has the Mutilator fish has already made its escape.
Even more dangerous is shoals of Mutilator fish can concentrate this effect causing the victim to feel as if they are being sliced to pieces by a swirling whirling pool of silvery blood tipped daggers.
