The process of Animincantio

The presence of ambient magical energy in the world is well documented and the process of Animincantio, to absorb and use magical energy as a food source first developed in single celled organisms who unable to easily access sunlight or sources of food developed a highly specialized ability to absorb and process raw magical energy. The presence of magic in even the harshest environments in the primordial sea would allow cells capable of Animicantio to thrive as extremophiles in places all but the hardiest of lifeforms could dwell.   Divergences and the Evolution of magicial life forms.   It should be of note that first divergence that occurs for Animincantio cells was in specialist feeders versus generalists. Generalists process the ambient magical energy that can be found anywhere while specialists adapted to feed on the concentrated energy of laylines, elemental vortexs and multi-dimensional portals.   Well known examples of Animancantio Generalists   Mana-Mud Often mistaken for bioluminesent sludge one of the earliest forms of passive magic feeding life is what many refer to as Mana-Mud. Colonies of Animincantio generalists feeders known to gather and enmass secret a protective mucus that incorperates slicates and water into a shimmering multihued puddles that can be found clinging to rocks or drifting in small raft like pools on the surface of water. It is one of the most widespread forms of Animincantio capable life   Well known examples of Animancantio Specialists   Layline Plankton is one of most easily recognized forms of Animincantio using lifeforms, the vast majority being composed of single celled organisms that drift along the ebb and flow of laylines feeding on the concentrated magical energy. They are inturn eatten by any number of lifeforms in a varity of eco systems. While Ocean Laylines boast the most well known Layline plankton subspecies have been found adapted to drifting on air currents, thriveing deep underground and even in the vaccum of space and other violently hostile biomes following the path of laylines as they form currents of concentrated magical power.   Elemental Algae is a unicellular organism that derives energy almost stricly from the presence of elemental vortexs, it comes in a varity of subspecies adapted to feed on nearly every varient of raw elemental energy. Classifying its color, diets and other qualaties is nearly a field of study in and of itself.   Planer Motes Related to layline plankton these brightly glowing airborne colonies of unicelluar organisms feed on the energy of planer portals and dimensional anomalies. Rarely seen by the naked eye they became apparent under magical viewing as floating motes of light that dance and swirl around places where dimensional breaches occur.

Makes sense. I like how you developed an additional for extremeophiles to survive.
