Vylka
This article is a Work in Progress and will be finished soon™
Biology
Anatomy
The vylka is a big quadruped creature with bulky proportions. They are covered in coarse fur on top of a thick layer of hard leathery skin that acts like an armour and gives the appearance of the creature being almost divided in segments. They are plantigrade, walking with their heels on the ground.
Behaviour
Reproduction
Once every two years vylkas meet to mate. Males will seek females in heat and fight each other for her attention, sometimes in loud, bloody battles. After a male successfully mates with a female, he will leave back to his territory, and the female will raise her cubs by herself. This species usually has 2 to 3 cubs for each litter.
Diet
Vylkas are carnivore creatures. They camouflage in the forest to ambush medium and large creatures such as esgots and doisus. Even though they are considered pactual, there are several documented cases of vylkas successfully hunting and eating tetsus. It is unknown (but probable) whether the tetsus seek revenge against tetsu-killing vylkas, and the number of vylkas in tetsu-infested areas does not seem to be smaller than in other places.Uses
Armoured Leather
The thick leather of the vylka has been used by many military forces, especially of Dhalmain and Karte, in the making of armour. Its qualities makes the resulting pieces durable, slash-resistant and waterproof, and the skins can be shaven or kept with the fur on to adapt to the weather.Breguine Cuisine
The people of the fallen city of Bregos were known to hunt vylkas for their whole body, including their meat. The Breguine would marinate the big pieces for several days before cooking it, and would make them into stews and jerky.
