Ysolda
Symbol of Power of Dhalmain
Regardless of the relatively pacific status of the waters surrounding the west islands of the archipelago, the mainly-coastal republic of Dhalmain is well known by its (by comparison) colossal navy, whose flagships are the "sisters" DPS Ysolda, "The Princess", and DPS Victorica, "The Warrior".
Ysolda is a heavy frigate, built for speed, for manoeuvrability in the intricate channels surrounding Dhalmain to the east and in some degree to impress, a feat that she achieves effortlessly in the militarily underdeveloped archipelago.
History
Ysolda was commissioned by the Dhalmanite navy in 3010 E.Alz to be the biggest and most advanced frigate on the archipelago, slightly surpassing Victorica, and was launched in 2 E.Alz, six years later. While she was intended to be built in 3 to 4 years, the coming of The High Rust delayed those plans when she was almost completed as the Rust shook the military a great deal, and also requiring extra work as the masts and riggings of both Ysolda and a lot of the other bigger ships had to be repaired or even entirely rebuilt after the Rust affected them at their highest points. Her Qualities
Ysolda has a long and slender hull, three masts, and capacity for 46 cannons at her sides, making her one of the few heavily armed ships in the islands. She is painted white with blue accents, and features a figurehead in the shape of an Endeler, a creature common on the Island of Dhalmain's southern coasts. Ysolda and her sister ship are so important and famous on their land that they became the Symbol of Power of Dhalmain, and are featured in the flag.Representation on The Flag
Dhalmain's flag features both Ysolda and Victorica next to each other, however, it must be noted that the representation of the ships is not quite true to reality:- While Ysolda is bigger and heavier than Victorica, both ships are featured as identical. This has been explained as a merely aesthetic choice, and to represent both ships as being equally important for the nation
- Only two masts are shown in the flag on both ships, however, Ysolda has three masts.
- While these details are only apparent on bigger and ceremonial flags, the figureheads are also shown as identical on the flags. However, Victorica's figurehead is correctly depicted as the torso of an Endeler while in reality Ysolda's figurehead depicts a full-bodied rampant Endeler carved in the Dhalmanite traditional style.
