Leylines

Leyline studies are still in their infancy, though practices with such have gone back for centuries. There have been proposals to mapping them, but due to the low number of ley sensitive people, this endeavour has mostly been futile. Druids have been known to focus the energies through stone circles, and these are thought to be the first types of such arcaneology.

Some scholars propose that the leylines are far more numerous than originally thought and that the Weave itself may be a collection of small leylines. This is often supported by the fact that certain sigils and techniques are able to focus leyline energy from nearly anywhere. Opponents to this school of thought state that the energy being focused is not ley line energy, but rather pure arcane energy.

Similar to magic itself, it appears that ley sensitivity can either be earned with birth, gifts, or studied. One must be accustom to the arcane arts already to study such, and many fail to even see the lines. The visualisation of the leys is different to everyone. Of the sensitive people who have told their stories, many say they can see the faint blue and purple lines running like rivers through the sky and ground. Others don't see the colour, but rather invisible waves, similar to heat waves on a hot summer's day. One or two have attested to being able to hear soft melodies flowing all around them. All sensitive magi have attested to being able to amplify their magics with additional energy. It's believed that instead of expending their own energy to cast the spell, they're able to utilise some of the latent ley energy in their casting.

During particularly strong moments of leyline energy, even the non-sensitive can see the energy, manifesting in a beautiful aurora in the night sky.
