Aberrant Dragonmark

You have manifested an aberrant dragonmark, a magical infusion of your soul given form and upon your skin; these dragonmarks are often unique to the individual, but some greater families have learned how to bestow them unto others, spreading their houses birthright by sharing their personalized mark, thus forging a powerful indicator of their noble house, that is not easily hid or forged. Determine your mark's appearance and the flaw associated with it. You gain the following benefits:

Prerequisite(s)

  • No existing dragonmark.

Benefit

  • Marked Spellcasting: You learn a cantrip of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. In addition, choose a 1st-level spell from the sorcerer spell list. You learn that spell and can cast it through your mark. Once you cast it, you must finish a short or long rest before you can cast it again through the mark. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. If you later gain access to the Pact Magic or Spellcasting class feature, these spells are added to your list of known spells, are considered always prepared, and are considered to be on that classes spell list.
  • When you cast a leveled-spell through your mark, you can expend one of your Hit Dice and roll it. If you roll an even number, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the number rolled. If you roll an odd number, one random creature within 30 feet of you (not including yourself) takes force damage equal to the number rolled. If no other creatures are in range, you take the damage.
  • This mark improves as you grow in strength. Marked Spellcasting: At level 3 it improves to that of the Least Mark granting you Proficiency in one skill of your choice; if you are already proficient in this skill or tool, you instead gain Expertise.
  • This mark improves as you grow in strength. Marked Spellcasting: At level 6 it improves to that of the Lesser Mark; choose a 2nd-level spell from the sorcerer spell list. You learn that spell and can cast it through your mark. Once you cast it, you must finish a short or long rest before you can cast it again through the mark.
  • This mark improves as you grow in strength. Marked Spellcasting: At level 9 it improves to that of the Greater Mark; choose a 3rd-level spell from the sorcerer spell list. You learn that spell and can cast it through your mark. Once you cast it, you must finish a short or long rest before you can cast it again through the mark.
  • You also develop a random flaw from the Aberrant Dragonmark Flaws table.
