Crustalean

Crustaleans are bipedal humanoids with a tough exoskeleton and great pincers upon each of their arms, just before the hand, this appendage can be controlled independant of the hand itself. The right most pincer is larger in males, and is used in ritual combat or in the mating season to prove the males worth.

5e Racial Stats

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: A crustalean increases their Constitution score by 2, and one ability score of your choice other than Constitution increases by 1.
  • Type: Crustaleans are humanoids with the aquatic subtype.
  • Size: Crustaleans are medium.
  • Speed: Crustaleans have a base speed of 25ft.
  • Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common, and Aquan.

You can breathe both air and water.

Cold Blooded (x) (Ex)

Crustalean are cold-blooded, they cannot be detected by thermal vision; however, they are especially susceptible to the environment around them, they suffer Disadvantage on any Environmental cold or heat effects, and are Vulnerable to damage caused by Environmental cold or heat effects. Resistance to either Cold or Fire, cancels out the Environmental vulnerability of that environment. Natural resistance to one of these environments negates that environment's penalties.

Darkvision (Ex)

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Dweller of the Depths (2) (Ex)

Adapted to even the most extreme ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage; additionally, you are immune to Environmental pressure effects caused by a deep, underwater environment.

Natural Armor (2) (Ex)

Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing most armor. Your shell provides ample protection, however; it gives you an unarmored AC of 17. You gain no benefit from wearing armor other than armor especially designed for your people, when wearing such armor, your armor class is increased by one. If you are using a shield, you can apply the shield's bonus as normal.

Natural Swimmer (x) (Ex)

A crustalean gains a swim speed of 30 feet.

Pincers (1) (Ex)

Your pincers are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
