Fellwood
Geography
Fellwood, incorrectly referenced as 'The Fellwood' by most Almusians, is located on the south-western tip of the continent of Tinobi. Fellwood is also the final resting place of the vast majority of watercourses that begin in the mountain range occupied by the Ridgeward people. The range cuts sharply across Tinobi in a south-easterly direction and separates the mostly hot northern side of the continent from the milder, cooler south, due to its distance from the equator and its low altitude. The Fellwood is mostly flat and is bordered by ocean to the south and west.
Fauna & Flora
Notable flora:
- Clanberries - Vibrant purple-skinned berries with red flesh. These berries are abundant in Fellwood and serve as the symbol for those Shiften who live in the forest. Clanberries are always served during important ceremonies.
- Bikten - A spiky shrub with edible (if bitter-tasting) leaves that are very hydrating. One leaf chewed on for an hour can act in place of an entire waterskin.
- Elgin - Solitary gigantic deer that roam Fellwood. Elgin are highly regarded by Fellwood Shiften, almost revered as a creature of the Gods. This doesn't prevent the Shiften from hunting them when required, but the Elgin have supernatural senses, and even the animal forms of Shiften find it very difficult to take down an Elgin.
History
In Fellwood's history, the forest has almost entirely been occupied by Shiften. During the war, the Shiften retreated into the forests of the world. Alongside Fellwood, these included the boreal forests of Enthar and the jungle now known as Tanglemist on the northern edge of Tinobi. All these forests have their own myths and legends concerning the occupation of Shiften. When the Shiften emerged from Fellwood and converged on Tinobi as a whole, the sheer population size of the Fellwood contingent was shocking. Rumours spread that Fellwood Shiften can be made and not simply born. Whether it's something in the water there, or the earth under their feet, some believe spending too long in Fellwood can cause someone with no Shiften blood to suddenly find their inner beast.

It'd be quite a shock to go meandering in the woods only to find your "inner beast". Curious how that happens, if it really does, or if it is just stories.
