Sielu'montanye (see - eh - loo - MON - ta - n - ye)

Sielu'montanye is rumored to be the result of a marital dispute between The Favoured Daughter and The Four. Their battle, The Favoured Daughter raging against The Four's infidelity, shattered the mountain range that once spanned across the narrow continent of Nalys. What occurred next varies depending on the tale. Some legends say that the mountains floated when The Favoured Daughter and The Four rekindled their love for one another. Others claim that The Favoured Daughter, or her sister The Maiden, raised the shattered peaks high above the Earth as penance, and a permanent reminder of the consequences of their power.    Aether energy functions wildly across Sielu'montanye, and most mages try not to draw upon the natural aether while in the vicinity due to unpredictable results. A mage's personal well of aether doesn't seem to be affected by the floating mountains, however, and so in picking researchers most institutes are very particular in the mages they send into the area to investigate.

Geography

Suspended between two and six miles above sea level, the floating mountains no longer span entirely from east to west, and instead float in a vaguely circular area, ringed by a dense area of forest. Sielu'montanye separates the low altitude, desert landscape of southern Nalyse, from the craggy steppe and increasingly higher altitude natural mountain range on the northern side of the continent.

Tourism

Sielu’montanye, and the aether energy that forms the unique mountain range, is the sight of tourism and research from all across Syshir. Excluding only the most remote tribes and clans of South Enthar, who never cross beyond their swathe of land. Mages from research institutions of the Enthar Empire, as well as The Library of Tinobi, and various smaller facilities from the countries of the Almusian Continent, all have permanent research stations in Nalys to study the phenomenon of the natural aether in the area. With permission, and under the supervision, of course, of the Nalysian council (and most importantly by the dracin that hold seats).   Otherwise, the floating mountains are particularly difficult to traverse, and the unpredictable aether in the area seems to have influenced the forest that rings Sielu’montanye themselves. It is wild and uncontrolled, and while the current government of Nalys has kept a very firm leash on those wishing to conduct logging business, the forest has always recovered from whatever cutting down occurs, often faster than natural growth would expect.   In addition, the Ever-Changing Forest is rumoured to try and trap unwary travellers. Trees have been heard to move while a party is looking the other way, river re-route overnight. Whatever the truth of the matter, exploring Sielu’montanye and it’s surrounds is not for the faint of heart.
