The City
Demographics
The City is the most multi-cultural of all settlements on Tinobi, welcoming Tinobians from any family.
~50% Tensys
~20% Thresys
~30% Mixed-race
Government
The Sandstep Library is run by the Head, the Heart, the Soul and the Prishiften.
Defences
The Sandstep Library technically has no personal defenses of its own to protect the city, instead, every fighting man or woman within the city at the time of an offensive strike is required to answer the call. This is incredibly unlikely, as any families entering the City must put aside rivalry when entering the walls. The City is neutral ground, and will not be party to petty squabbles between families. Archivists, however, are trained to defend the Library, its contents, and its interests.
Industry & Trade
Foreigners aren't often seen in The Library, and it is commonly believed that entrance is only allowed by invitation of the Prishiften to those who don't come from Tinobi. It's not too far from the truth, the location of The Oasis is held close to the chest Tinobians. It's neutral ground and a sacred place to their people. As it is, even if a foreigner were to be aware that The Library was located within Sandstep, they'd be hard-pressed to traverse the desert without a well-traveled guide. A foreigner entering The City without invitation would not be turned away, but the Archivists would have many questions wondering how they managed to locate The City.
While The Library and its research is the heart of The City, trade is the soul. Some of the more discreet, secluded families only trade at The City, setting up permanently in The Tents or The Huts on the outside of the protective wall, and annually, foreign traders are given escort into Sandstep and are allowed to set up in the Trade part of the City.

Big, exclusive-ish city. I can dig it. Lovely entry though I need to do a bit more reading so some of these words stick better. Need a refresher on your races.
I should probably write some of those things, huh? Maybe they'll appear in some more prompts this year. I adore the Shiften and their weird nerdy hub in the middle of a desert.
