Slipwind Pestercat

The Slipwind Pestercat is named for its behaviour and slippery nature, proving hard to catch without the use of psionics - unless a Pestercat has taken a liking to you.

Domesticated and kept as pets by many Xix, in villages and larger settlements like Xishesh.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Slipwind Pestercat is a sleek, small-framed, feline that's indigenous to Kerith. They have four legs, two tails, antennae and horn-like appendages similar to that of the Xix.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Pestercat reproduces via the common mammalian methods. Gestation takes the equivalent of 70 Terran days.

Female Pestercats can only reproduce three times during their lifespan. This is attributed as an evolutionary trait to protect the integrity of the psionic abilities and curb the strain on the mother, due to maintaining psionic links to all offspring until death.

Growth Rate & Stages

Pestercats become full adults within two Terran years, though are born with their twin tails set together. The moment adulthood is achieved, the tail splits.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Pestercats are natural predators of common reptilian species found in their natural habitat, though also eat numerous kinds of fruits and berries.

Behaviour

The Pestercats are so named as they have mischievous tendancies. They will steal berries, attempt to frighten each other, birds, and Xix. This behaviour is what led to their naming and domestication into Xixxian society on Kerith.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Pestercats can hear, see, smell, taste and touch. Much like the Xix, they are also psionically resonant. Exhibited psionics involve micro-nudges and communication of needs via notion-pulsing.

Their initial domestication was spurred by the innate ability of the species to find fresh water.
