Drez

Often referred to as the City of Cooperation, Drez is the Capital of the City-state of the same name. It has derived it's nickname, as well as it's value and power, from the variety of guilds and organizations that call this city home.

Demographics

Maintaining it's independant status, members of all sentient species are welcome here. The western Human ethnicities are most common. Traders and independant minded Orcs moving south from StoneHeart, their kingdom and origin constitute a sizeable plurality. Elves from the southern forests take residence here, though few in number. Dwarves from the FireFist clans the west occassionally make their way here, though factionalism often creates issues, making them unwanted guests. Drow and Goblins have had rare opportunities to find accepted and peaceful lives here, presuming they abide the rules.

Government

Drez is run by a matriachical monarchical line. The Royal Family is inclined to leave well enough alone, permitting the guilds to govern themselves and each other, so long as tarriffs and revenue comes in. Being so valuable and small, comporable to the other nations, the Queen of Drez has been foremostly concerned with diplomacy, ensuring none of the other half dozen nations that surround it begin to think that favorites are being played.

Guilds and Factions

The Pathfinder Society, the association of entripid adventurers seeking knowledge and glory, were the first of notable organizations to establish a presence in Drez, feeling confident that it's nuetral status would allow Pathfinders to find a reliable haven here, and use it as a hub into other lands. Guilds dedicated to the study of Magic came next, seeking to concentrate knowledge without the influence and dictates of the D'arcan Mage Lords. With Drez established as fertile ground, the Bard's guild, preferring to call itself a College, created multiple schools for different instrumentation and performative study. Mercenary companies followed soon after, with substantial coin to be gained and protected, and the unofficial and illegal "thieve's guild" not far behind.

Tourism

Beyond arriving in Drez for the trading opportunities or working with the various Guilds, the most common tourist destination in Drez is to visit the Temple of Ammic, the God of Friendship, Hospitality, and Kinship.
