Pink Bananas
A wild occurring variant of normal bananas or plantains, the simplistically named pink banana is an extremely healthy and nutritious plant that many wish to see cultivated, but have been unsuccessful.
The plant is also fierce aphrodesiac, making for strong 'love potions' and the like, causing many in puritanical circles to feel the 'cost' outweighs the benefit.

Basic Information
Anatomy
the pink banana is significantly longer and girthier than its more typical cousin. Pods are fewer in number, usually resulting in a similar 'harvest' overall. The outer peel is also more durable, firm, and difficult to remove. Knives or other blades are common.
Genetics and Reproduction
The reproduction of pink banana trees is baffling, as it seems resistance to any deliberate reproduction. All attempts to recreate them, either through agriculture or magic, have failed. More confounding, trees that bear pink bananas are frequently found among ones that bear their more pedestrian cousins.
There's been some casual association with the location of the trees and druid groves. If these secretive masters of the wild know the secrets, they aren't sharing.

Growth Rate & Stages
The growth cycle of the fruit of these trees is unusual, in comparison. The onset of growth is delayed, but more condensed. Given the increased size and rapid rate of growth, accomplishing in a week what normal banana fruits take a month, some hyperbolic accounts have suggested one could practically watch them grow.
Ecology and Habitats
Like most banana fruit, these are found in jungles and similarly humid environments. These areas are often rife with predatory beings and makes harvesting a risky endeavor.
Linthalia, already considered to be the most openly hedonistic nation on T'sara, has some pockets where there these grow, and are nearly as profitable in trade as their indigenous plant, Maiden Tea. A few other coastal nations more west of them also have them, though reaching the marketplace is more rare. There's even been telling of a small pocket of jungle in the territory of the Hammerdeep Dwarves that sprout the pink banana. Given their propensity for drink and roudiness already, one staggers to consider how the side affects could affect their social order.

This is a lot of fun. Drunk dwarves eating pink bananas might be interesting to see from a safe distance!
