Vrishkan Mystics

Vrishkan Mystics are one of the more unique minor faiths in T'sara, dedicated to Vrishka, Goddess of Humanity, and Goddess of Magic. While there are already faiths dedicated to the worship of Vrishka for her magic, the Mystics choose to worship Vrishka through magic. They believe that casting spells and understanding the great mysteries of the arcane arts are the truest ways one can show devotion and worship.

Structure

The Mystics are disparate and decentralized. Typically, one Elder mystic is the center focus with the acolytes they have taught or are teaching. Usually it is no more than two or three: more in areas where access to magical training or sorcery is high.

Culture

Mystics view the whole world through the lens of magic and Arcane potential. In all things, there is a lesson to be learned in the greater understanding of the world. Nothing is mundane: everything that exists does because Gods used their powers, what mortals understand as magic. They do not seek the power of the Gods, but by understanding that power, they may better venerate and worship, especially Vrishka.   They do not have any ambitions of the world as it should be. Mystics seek only to understand the world as it is. They are inclined to learn magic, but they are seldom inclined to share what they know to outsiders. One must show they are capable in the magical arts to be welcomed, or at least show that they are well versed in the arcane mechanics of spell craft and the wild energy from which all of existence is made.

Public Agenda

The Mystics try to mirror that of Vrishka as much as possible. This is not as simple as it sounds, given the rarity in which Gods interact with mortals lately.   Some among the Mystics have chosen to focus on a matter of Heresy. The Mystics seek to prove the Intransican Emperor as a heretic and a fraud; that he is not a God and may never have even been real. That only those who proven their loyalty are permitted within the Imperial Capital makes their work difficult.

History

Because they are so unorganized, tracing the history of the Mystics in detail is impossible.   Their origins trace to the early days of the First Age. It was not immediately clear that Veseraes sacrifice to save T'sara had granted the world permanence and limited the power of the Gods, and of magic. Wizard experts sought to understand how and why this occurred. Believing it at first to be some evil Fey curse, they sought a way to reverse it. They found it impossible, but also for the first time truly began to understand the world from the perspective of its creators. This deepened their love and respect for the Gods, Vrishka in particular.
