Skat'ra conduit
Purpose of a conduit
With their free will, skat'ra envoys can handle many tasks and discussions without continuous oversight of the queens. However, because of this free will, the envoys sometimes go down a path that is not to the liking of the queens. On these occasions, the queens step in and use the skat'ra conduits to converse directly with the leaders of the various nations. The conduit is a translator without any other function.
How is a conduit raised?
Three persons are required to breed a conduit. One of them is a queen. She is responsible for the mental and physical changes that a conduit requires. She increases the telepathic strength of the conduit while decreasing or completely removing any other cognitive functions, saving the essential parts to exist. Plus, the queen is responsible for shaping the head and mouth of the conduit while the conduit is in its egg to represent a generic head and mouth appearance of the specie the conduit will be placed. The second person is a skat'ra scholar fluent in the skat'ra telepathic and spoken language. Its telepathic knowledge is transferred to the conduit. The third person is a scholar or linguist from the specie the conduit will be allocated. Through the skat'ra scholar, the foreign language is fed into the conduit too.
Tasks of a conduit
There isn't anything that requires acting of its own. A conduit is a translator used only when a queen wants to talk to the leader of a foreign nation. Besides these occasions, the conduit is stored within the residence of the envoy, who is responsible for the continual existence of the conduit, including feeding it.
Number of conduits
Currently, there are eight conduits located in Tacillia. Four are situated at the leader of the various nations - Dominion of the Hobgoblin, Calamor Empire, and the Aerie - plus in Brillansis. Three of them are placed at influential nobles of the Dominion and one at the Silk Syndicate. There is a plan to station an envoy and a conduit within the lupian tribes. So far, the lupians have been unable to guarantee their safety, and there isn't a lupian who can help with their language during the breeding period. There are also talks with the calamor to teach conduits the color language of the calamor, but so far, the queens have been unable to modify the chitin hide of the conduit to change its color based on the language requirements.
It is a convenient but disturbing way to discuss directly with the queens
