The big lie

Tacillia is a lie. It isn't a world of living and breathing inhabitants but accessories in the game. Like the game at Thrill Hill, the Unreal Contest. Everybody who lives on it is just a fictional component. Many of them don't even have a name. And they are the lucky ones because they can still escape. The ones that have names already have some connection with the setup. And those who have what you call "backstory" are completely lost and living the lie. How is this possible? Because several huge gaps on Tacillia are not filled yet by the being called "The Owner".

Who is this Owner? He is the one who started to create Tacillia. His purpose was nothing angelic. He wanted to play with the life of all the inhabitants. Previously he was playing with another world but got bored with it. Or course, he isn't the greatest of builders, so he used this previous world as his base, made a world-ending event, the Rending, and built his stuff on the pieces of the previous creation. And because he didn't care about what was previously, he just called that period Then, like it was some mysterious era.

But he isn't the biggest threat to Tacillia. It is his agents who are called "adventurers". They are the ones who can do anything on Tacillia if they want to. And the Owner creates everything for them. Do they want to defeat a monster? That monster appears and terrorizes everyone until the adventurers massacre it. Are these adventurers want riches? A dungeon full of treasure appears near or beneath a peaceful village. Of course full of monsters. And if not the monsters, then these adventurers are the ones who terrorize the inhabitants of Tacillia.

Fortunately for Tacillia, a secret organization, called The Liberators, is aware of what Tacillia is. Using the Owner's inconsistencies, they can peer behind the curtain while increasing their numbers and plotting their action to free Tacillia from the tyranny of the Owner.
