Correspondence
"Everything around us is all numbers and variables, man! So long as I'm around, you don't gotta freak your bean about the distance, cause to a h4x0r pro like me, the variables are what I make 'em!"Correspondence is the Sphere of Connection. This isn't just the connection between one another, as it can be used to unite Mages when combined with other Spheres, but also connecting one point in space to another. For beginners, this connection is merely sensory, being able to move where their perceptions start, but for trained experts? They can create wormholes, small pockets of space, and even layer two places over each other, although this runs the high risk of Paradox.-- Shani Ritter, Virtual Adept
Planetary Alignment
Each of the Nine Spheres are associated with a Planet (technically), and Correspondence is related to Mercury. Within the chaotic space of the Umbra, there used to be a realm of Correspondence over the planet itself, with a powerful chantry on its surface. But, it has long since been closed off and dangerous to even attempt travel.Effect
Correspondence as a Sphere deals with literal communication and connections as well as distance and connection in terms of physical distance. While any Awakened Magick is malleable based on the Mage's needs, the general scope of possibility in the range of power ascends as follows:
- Entry Level: Allows the Mage to percieve things in their immediate area that they couldn't normally, as well as determine direction, distance, and any spacial anomalies
- Training Level: Allows the Mage to send their senses to distant locations and, in combination with Life or Matter, transport small items through wormholes. Also allows them to cover up their tracks in causing these spacial anomalies
- Intermediate Level: Allows the Mage to create larger wormholes to move themselves through, and in combination with other Spheres pull larger items through without contact
- Advanced Level: Allows the Mage to create larger or even permenant wormholes or even appear in multiple locations at once. Combining these with other Spheres can create spacial wards, pocket dimensions, or give sentience to the selves that appear at the different locations.
- Expert Level: Allows the Mage the ability to distort space, not just for travel but the actual shape and size of things, although this requires skill in other Spheres to work effectively.
Side/Secondary Effects
Given the distortion of space at play, a Mage must be very careful in their applications of Correspondence, especially at higher levels, lest they risk ennacting Vulgar Magick and the heavy backlash of Paradox that comes with it. Correspondence Mages who push too hard to warm space in reality will find themselves entirely isolated from it, shunted into a pocket dimension if their lucky or an uncaring void if they aren't.
Correspondence Mages also tend to have a very distant stare to them, as the physical distance between one place or another becomes little more than an option to them.
Manifestation
While not a guarenteed rule, most Correspondence spells manifest as rippling waves and carry a purple or silver color to them. This is obviously something that can be changed depending on the caster and their practice.
Discovery
The Sphere of Correspondence has existed in various forms since the dawn of time and the dawn of the Awakened, but has grown much more defined and prominant as the common understanding of space and dimensions grew. It's current figurehead within the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions, the group known as The Virtual Adepts, gained it's most prominance in the mid-1800's, and joined the Council in the 1960's.

Gestures & Ritual
Spacial Magic usually requires touch and/or pre-gained knowledge about the location affected by the magic. This range extends the most skilled a Correspondence Mage is, but to keep it from getting to Vulgar it's still suggested to keep it close to home.

Depends on Spell, Sensory spells are quicker than Teleportation

While The Virtual Adepts are the current representatives of Correspondence within the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions, they aren't the only masters of the Sphere.
When I followed your world I thought it was only focused on kindred lore, but as I was searching I was pleasantly surprised to see articles like that! I love WoD (so much so I started a new world as a tribute to it) and what you're building here warms my heart! Great job :D

I'm glad I could have that effect! This world did start off as Kindred focused, as I'm currently running a VtM Game in this setting, but I always planned on getting to the other groups in order. But, I've been getting really into Mage lately and so I decided that since this is just a for-fun world for me, there's no harm in deviating from that original plan.
