Entropy

Entropy is the Sphere of luck and fate in equal measure. While it can cause an increase in good fortune and health, it can just as easily cause disaster and decay, with the latter being the primary image the Sphere and it's primary keepers, The Euthanatoi, have maintained over the centuries. Nevertheless, it is capable of both things still, and many Awakened can benefit from it's graces.
While it is not necessarily one and the same, the Vedic roots of The Euthanatoi have likened the chance influenced by Entropy with the concept of Karma, it's positive and negative ends merely being strings connected to the soul and the universal cycle of existance, and them merely tugging on those strings. One does not have to ascribe to that same line of thought to use the Sphere, but as the Euthanatoi have been the representatives of the Sphere for centuries, millenia even, it is an aspect that is not easily removed.

Planetary Alignment

Each of the Nine Spheres are associated with a Planet (technically), and the fatalistic sphere of Entropy is fittingly tied with the planet Pluto. It is said that within the realms of Umbra, there is a Chantry on the moon of Cerberus, where all possible endings can be seen, and the darkest of dead spirits can be reached.

Effect

Entropy affects the probabilities of things as well as the concept of fate. There is also an edge of decay and rot to this Sphere, but that can also be seen as merely hastening the end point of fate. Entropy is a more subtle art than other Spheres, especially at lower levels, but there's still a lot of options to the art, especially since many things rely on chance and probability. But, following the five-level system, here are the general directions you can take the Sphere at different experience levels:

• Entry Level: The beginning Entropy Mage is able to read probabilities of random events, see the failing points in objects, and the tells of a lying individual as they see the flaws in their argument.
• Training Level: The Entropy Mage is able to start influnceing the points they have previously seen, being able to manipulate chance in their favor or target weak points physically or verbally.
• Intermediate Level: At this level, the Entropy Mage is able to control the speed of inevitable decay, essentially manipulating misfortune to make something go wrong sooner. They can also give an object or person an aura of good or bad luck to various degrees.
• Advanced Level: At this level, the true deadliness of an Entropy Mage becomes clear, as their ability to speed things toward their unfortunate end begins to effect living people in the form of bodily pain and disease. However, by the same measure, they can also heal and strengthen a living person as fortune favors them.
• Expert Level: At this level, the Entropy Mage's ability goes being the physical or the living, being able to affect ideas or entire concepts, making the arguments fall apart and decay or strengthening them into infallability. They can also bind someone to an oath that, if they break, will cause immense misfortune towards the oathbreaker.

Side/Secondary Effects

Since Entropy is a Sphere that deals with more subtle manipulations of reality, it is relatively easy to ennact without stepping into the breach of Vulgar Magick. However, that doesn't mean it won't still happen, especially at higher levels as a Mage can begin to manipulate peoples bodies or the degredation of entire memetic ideas. Fate is a part of reality after all, and can invoke it's wrath just the same. Paradox backlash from Entropy Mages usually takes the form of a reversal of fate, the Mage themselves becoming the target of misfortune or decay to various degrees.
Entropy Mages also tend to be rather nihilistic people, either gloomy and fatalistic in the face of everything pointing towards the end, or oddly chipper and aloof because everything ends, so nothing matters!

Manifestation

Even if used in beneficial ways, Entropy Magick tends to appear in a dark and murky fashion, especially effects that center around decay (or the prevention of it). In terms of aura, the colors associated with the Sphere tend to range from Indigo to Black.

Discovery

The group known as The Euthanatoi have always been the representatives and warriors of Entropy, dating back to prehistory. Despite being one of the oldest organizations, they have gone through much change over the centuries, incorporating not just their Vedic-based ideology, but also Greek and Celtic lines of thinking as well, and that's before the group entered the modern day.

Applied Restriction

Entropy Mages cannot effect living creatures until higher levels of experience and control. While they can still influence objects and circumstances around them, targetting the flesh and soul itself is not an easy task.

Other Entropy Focused Organizations:

Outside of The Euthanatoi, there are two other organizations that specialize in Entropy. That would be the Twisters of Fate, a faction of The Verbena that focus on solitary return to their ancient roots rather than continuing the complicated covens other Verbena do, and The Syndicate, one of the five Conventions of the Technocracy and the capitalistic stock brokers who utilize Entropy as one of their main weapons.
