Central Province
The Central Province, one of the two original sides at the beginning of The Last War, now stands as one of the most financially successful provinces thanks to almost all trade passing through it at some point along its journey. It is land-locked, mostly flat, large chunk of territory. There is a great deal of untamed wilderness and recognizable endemic wildlife. This wilderness is primarily prairies and deciduous forest. The entire province experiences 4 distinct seasons. Its capital is perhaps the most famous city in the world and has sprung up in a historically short time frame, filling the void the destruction of Dryad's Gold left behind.
Geography
Many rivers criss-cross over the grassy prairies and steppes, through the dense deciduous forests and cut through valleys. Much of the province is relatively flat and pock-marked by further smoothing out to support several small communities. Many still reservoirs of water exist without extreme terrain changes to keep the rivers running fast, leading to large lakes and marshlands. The southern and some of the western border are traced by the Titan's Spine mountain range. A fair amount of the flat, grassy plains have been converted to irrigated farmland. Where water doesn't stand and forests or grasses don't keep soil put among their roots the terrain tends to be rocky.
Fauna & Flora
The Central Capital's dense forests are the homelands of brassbeaks, kuretos, gleckos, wyverns, several species of griffin, hippogriffs and the Dire Boars that were bred in to the original Draft Boars. Common wildlife also includes familiar creatures such as rabbits, squirrels, prairie dogs, sparrows, wild turkeys, white tail deer, wolves, bears and buffalo. Not all wildlife is so mundane. Goliath tigerfish and the spinosaurs that hunt them plague certain waterways. Velociraptor hunt the forests along with allosaurus. T-rex hunt and scavenge the plains while carnotaurus is the "Center's King Cheetah." It was once home to many unique subspecies that were hunted to extinction, most famously a variety of owlbear who's feathers briefly became very popular fashion for hats.
Deep woods hide monsters both terrifying and incredible. Undead, peryton, shambling mounds, unicorns and kirin, and very, very much more. The central province has some of the richest history from the Adventuring Age alongside the northern province. The central province is a common inspiration to adventure fiction writers who are enamored with the romantic idea of heroes defending townships against these many beasts.
Before the chromatic extermination black, green and some blue dragons made their lairs here. Copper dragons existed here rather candidly in the plains though have since disappeared. It is thought to have been home to a few gold dragons and conflict between silver dragons and cloud giants have reports as recent as 50 years ago but they've gotten exceptionally clever about hiding. Metallics in the central province are only seen when they want to be and no one is sure what they're up to. Other dragonkin, such as wyverns, forest drakes, pseudodragons and fae dragons make their home in one or more of the biomes in the central province.
Natural Resources
The Central Province has a great deal of land that can be used to pasture larger ungulates such as beef cattle, or to raise mounts that graze in larger number for market. They have space for orchards and can exploit some natural floodplains to grow cranberries. Harvesting lumber is also popular, though the woods provided by the central province tend to be cheaper woods than the exotic types from the southern province. There are several granite and limestone quarries.
While not purely natural, the diversity of beasts draws in would-be adventurers to try their luck at the old ways, allowing some older crafts to survive even during the increasingly modern era.
