Hlal's Mourn

Hlal's Mourn is a lonely mountain standing apart from the rest of the Faerhyn Mountains. It is said to be named for having the shape of a massive copper dragon hanging their head in shame. However this name is very, very old, and was originally given by dragons, so time has long since eroded this namesake in to little more than a tall peek. Hlal's Mourn is important to copper dragons and followers of Hlal on the 3rd summer of the draconic year.

Geography

Hlal's Mourn stands on the edge of floodplains, overlooking seasonal prairie. The land around it is very fertile and is well farmed with many settlements resting in its shadow. The mountainside itself is not a difficult climb and has a few well traveled paths to its peek. It is composed largely of shale and many bids have been made to mine it for such but have always been shut down for obvious reasons. The mountain is not particularly tall even by comparison to others in its range. The streams become rapids on their way down but calm quickly when they reach the river delta on the way to the lakes.

Fauna & Flora

Coniferous and deciduous trees both exist in good number here, as do wildflowers not found much further south than this. The fields go through many stages of bloom very rapidly in predictable cycles of species. The mountainside streams are devoid of most but the hardiest of aquatic life, mainly filter feeding shrimps, insect larvae, and hillstream loaches. Some very large salamanders are said to live here as well but if they are truly the sizes reported is unknown, as searching the rapids for them isn't particularly safe. Giant eagles, owlbears, hippogriffs and the rare giant elk account for some of the more monstrous wildlife. In recent years a large peryton nest has established itself thanks to the many humanoid settlements.

Natural Resources

Other than existing near farmland and having beauty to witness if you're the hiking type there is not much to gain from Hlal's Mourn. It is a well beloved area, and you'd be stupid to try and use the holy site of dragons as nothing more than a resource chip. It does draw tourism in to some of the settlements around, but far from all.
