Kobolds

Kobolds emerged in the age of dragons as hybrids between dragons and goblins. Goblins used them as slave labor until their uprising.
Kobolds now come in two flavors: Eastern and Western. Eastern Kobolds are very dog-like and are more common the further north or east you go, while Western Kobolds are very reptilian (though still inherently dog-shaped) and more common the further south or west you go. The two varieties can cross but the resulting children are always one or the other, same x same breeds true. Kobolds are often viewed as animalistic by other races and their intelligence ignored despite the fact their minds are no less than your average humanoid.
