Holy Books & Codes

Many of Her clergy follow the Ptarian Code, especially those who worship Herself and Her twin in equal measure. Most of Her clergy are healers who hold themselves to the ancient Oath of Tamara. This was written by the founding dragons of Tamara's clergy, not Tamara Herself.   The Oath of Tamara:
  • I SOLEMNLY PLEDGE to dedicate my life to Mercy on all souls, in comfort and in suffering;
  • THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF MY TENDED will be my first consideration;
  • I WILL RESPECT the autonomy and dignity of those I tend;
  • I WILL MAINTAIN the utmost respect for the right of all life not to suffer;
  • I WILL NOT PERMIT considerations of age, disease, disability, gender, nor color of scale, nor stature of body, nor sexual orientation, social standing, wealth or magical ability, nor any other factor to intervene between my duty and my tended;
  • I WILL RESPECT the secrets that are confided in me, even after a tended has died;
  • I WILL BESTOW my Goddess's Mercy with conscience and dignity and in accordance with good and humble practice;
  • I WILL FOSTER the honor and noble traditions of the clergy and our tended;
  • I WILL GIVE the respect and gratitude that is due to arbiters of Justice but no more than another soul;
  • I WILL SHARE my faith and experience for the benefit of the tended and the advancement of the clergy's care;
  • I WILL ATTEND TO my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard;
  • I MAKE THESE PROMISES solemnly, freely and upon my honor. Tamara have mercy upon me should I ever stray in mortal weakness. Should I err, I shall repent.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

  • Any seven pointed white star on a black backdrop
  • Sometimes a simplified draconic visage is combined with imagery of the Cassious Thistle to denote the presence of healing Clergy

Tenets of Faith

  • Be a bright spot in the darkness, no matter how complete it seems. Someone will need a guiding light.
  • Be strong, be merciful. Mercy is not weakness. It is harder to give mercy openly than to pass judgement and turn away.
  • Repent. You are allowed to change. To become more, to become better. So are those you meet.
  • Forgive. Forgiveness need not be given blindly, for this is the way of fools, but you must consider before you deny.
  • Ease your suffering. You are not broken. What ails your mind, heart or body against your control is not deserved.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

  • Tamara abhors the unwilling undead, especially undead dragons. To extend the life of a being against their will is to prolong their suffering and deny them the mercy of rest.
  • Tamara is not a pacifist. Her strongest followers often seek to deliver mercy through way of release or the death of those causing suffering
  • When dragons are old enough to choose their own passing Tamara escorts those who wish to rest to Elysium with their hoard. Her older sister Nulain helps those that instead choose Guardianship
  • Tamara's clergy tends to sick dragons and humanoids alike. Terminally ill dragons find respite in temples and their passing is celebrated as finally coming to rest.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tamara is one of two White Gold dragons in existence, brighter than the platinum dragon Bahamut but less reflective by far. If it were possible to compare Her to Her twin they would look no different, save for Tamara's softer expression.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Because the Twins seem to be identical it is believed by many that at least one of Them altered Their presentation. Which of Them it would be is unknown.

Morality & Philosophy

Tamara values the life of mortal creatures. Moreso she values the want for a good life. She celebrates those who seek to ease the suffering of their hearts and weeps for those who cannot find mercy from the cruelty of nature.

Social

Family Ties

Tamara is one of two Draconic Deities born from the third egg of Asgorath, the Mother of Dragons. Of the two Twins She was quieter and closer to Their oldest Sister, who helped foster Her empathy for mortals of all kinds. She was once close with her twin Lendys but They were destined to grow apart thanks to Their views diverging along such opposed paths.

Social Aptitude

Tamara is among the very friendliest of the Draconic Deities to mortals both dragon and non-draconic. Before the Deities fled beyond the divine gate She spent some of Her time interfering with mortals by way of small miracles, inspiring mercy in several forms, often preventing dragon slayings or rampages. Most of Her time was spent playing the Shield to the Hammer that is Her cold and judgemental Twin however.
