For generations magic reigned supreme, those with ties to the mysterious force flourished and those without were cowed or crushed under foot. Yet, as time wore on the force began to fade from the world, Kingdoms crumbled and the wealthiest and most powerful of those Vaeln, Aelys, and Aelysan fell into mysterious ruin leaving the once feared Dragon's Eye an empire of ash and ruins. Some say the dragons turned on their masters, but no one has ever escaped to tell the tale. The flickering flames of magic ebbed to embers when the great black dragon Rexxas the immortal devoured the last red dragon Kaethygar, as punishment for House Andexian crimes during the War of Three Fires. The great magicians of this time lost their powers with only a few being able to accomplish more than mere parlor tricks. Spells of immortality unraveled and the great sorceresses and Magistrixes began to age and die off. The Priestesses of Ifrit in the east stopped practicing their rituals and like the greater sorcery towers became instead a place where girls were sent by high ranking families if they wished to be married into nobility abroad. Through it all, the only magic which remained was that of then Vaelian House Caeraxan who ruled all of Nairn for nearly a thousand years after the Vaelian king Garaxxyn disinherited his four sons with his twin sister Lyaesa. The four took their dragons and in less than a year conquered each kingdom of the great continent Nairn from the top of the world to the sweltering coast of Asrand, where rebellion was rare and quickly snuffed out... until it wasn't.
