Aetheric Restoration Therapy

Among Mages, few things are considered worse than being afflicted with Aether Drain, losing their ability to use magic after straining themselves too hard. In the past, such Mages often had to accept the fact that they're no longer capable of using magic and try to find a new life outside of it, which can be difficult if the Mage has spent their whole life around magic, though several attempts were made to find a way to reverse this condition. Out of all of these treatments, the process known as Aetheric Restoration Therapy (a combination of medicinal elixirs and manipulation of the patients Aether flow) has been the most successful, and continues to be used today.

Utility

Aetheric Restoration Therapy is used by healers to restore the ability to use magic to Mages suffering from Aether Drain by repairing the flow of Aether in their body. While it's highly discouraged, some non-mages have tried using this treatment to give themselves the ability to use magic, though there have been no successes in this particular use.

Access & Availability

Due to the complexity of the treatments, as well as the highly variable chance of success, Aetheric Restoration Therapy is highly restricted, with only patients that show a high likelihood of being cured being selected to undergo treatment.

Complexity

Due to the process behind this treatment requiring the use of precise doses of special Aetheric elixirs, as well as a strong enough awareness of the patients Aether flow to be able to recognise where it needs to be altered (on top of the ability to influence a persons Aether flow in the first place), all of which varies from patient to patient, Aetheric Restoration Therapy is considered an extremely complex treatment that only a few individuals are considered well versed in.
