Ithyrian Guardians

While the ancient mage empire of Ithyria was responsible for producing many Aether powered wonders, few are as impressive as the Guardians. In the past, these ancient constructs have served as the tireless protectors of some of the most important sites within the Empire, from palaces, to archives, to tombs. While Ithyria has long since fallen into ruin, the Ithyrian Guardians continue to stand watch over their posts, and are often the bane of any who seek to explore the ruins they occupy.

Utility

Before Ithyria fell into ruin, the Ithyrian Guardians were primarily used as guardians of sites the Ithyrian Elves considered to be especially important, a role they continue to fulfill even after their civilisation has fallen to ruin. According to some stories, some Guardians were reporpused as warmachines during the Ithyrian War of Succession.

Manufacturing

The majority of Ithyrian Guardians are constructed with humanoid forms, with arms that end either in hands or blades, and with owl-like faces. Like many of the technologies created by Ithyria, the specific details regarding their construction have been lost to time.

Social Impact

The Guardians are believed to have contributed greatly to Ithyrias ability to defend itself against outside aggressors, and have had a strong influence on the creation of constructs since its fall.
Inventor(s)
It's said that the Guardians were created by the brightest mages and artisans in Ithyria.
Access & Availability
Even during the time of the Ithyrian Empire, the Guardians were an still an uncommon sight, with nearly all Guardians constructed being limited to protecting important locations throughout the empire, and the most advanced models only being seen around the most important/sacred sites.
Complexity
The Ithyrian Guardians are considered to be one of the most complex pieces of technology ever to have been produced by the Ithyrian Elves, not just for their durable construction, but also for their ability to harness Aether both as a power source as well as to emulate the effects of magic.
