Radiant Aegis
The Radiant Aegis is considered to be the most sacred relic of the Wardens of the Radiant Shield, and serves as a symbol of their order and its ideals. Originally wielded by Ahmad Palatine, the founder of the Wardens and possibly the first paladin, this shield is said to have been blessed by Archaiel, the Elari of Light, through Aione, the Founding Saint of the Radiant Church and one of the earliest recorded Lightbearer clerics, granting divine protection not just to its bearer, but their allies as well. Since their founding, the Aegis has been passed down among the Grandmasters of the Wardens as their symbol of office, and has been instrumental in overcoming whatever major crisis the order has faced.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Due to its blessed nature, the Aegis is significantly tougher than any other shield, and can shield its bearer from harmful magical effects, ranging from spells meant to directly harm their target, to ones meant to influence them. This protection also extends to the bearers allies within a small radius.
Significance
Having been blessed by one of the earliest Clerics in recorded history, as well as being associatted with who many believe was the first Paladin, the Radiant Aegis is considered to be the most sacred artifact of both the Wardens of the Radiant Shield and the Church of the Radiant Saints.
