Bebikh
The Bebikh are the poor inhabitants of the inhospitable island nation of Yei. They speak Yashwish, a language spoken virtually nowhere else, as it is considered highly consonant with Bebikh identity, and additionally quite challenging to learn.
The rigors of life on their rocky and windswept island have shaped the Bebikh into a hardy and resourceful people: they are skilled fishermen and hunters, having learned to survive on the scant resources of their island home.
Though ruled over for generations by the powerful Ek Jad dynasty, the Bebikh achieved independence in recent years owing to the Jaadi empire's waning strength, provoking them to fortify ties with the nearer nation of Tifwa Akn, whose native Ghūd culture happily welcomed them into the family.
Though the Bebikh came to establish a meager trade with the Ghūd, their country's lack of valuable commodities has meant economic help flows mostly in one direction, leaving the former reliant on the latter's classic hospitality. Though the Ghūd themselves are by no means a wealthy nation, their spiritual values have directed them to play a formative role in rebuilding the nation of Yei, and the Bebikh's sense of identity. They have eagerly shared their zeal for Jailindulayin, the All-Seeing spider god, whose worship has as a consequence caught on wildly among the Bebikh people...although it is questionable whether their adoption of the faith owes more to general gratitude for their deliverance than any true devotion.
