Dengun
The Dengun are a Qilaphma-speaking minority group living in the nation of Ek Jad. They are largely adherent to the Ocean Plume Temple faith given their Qildabic roots, although, this religion being greatly encompassing, there is no conflict of interest for those who choose to pursue the dominant local belief in Jailindulayin, the All-Seer either alongside or in lieu of their native system.
Modern Dengun have an established place in Ek Jad and are treated as near-equals to native Jaadi, though the history of this standing enjoys an ironic arc: The Dengun's ancestors once ruled over the northern section of the country when Qildab's empire was at its height (circa UT 1115, approximately when The Hex was founded) and while Ek Jad's Shiith'e rulers did suppress members of this ethnicity for some time after their own Kingdom rose, in light of the collapse of the great Reign of the Rainbow Chiefs in UT 802, it was not carried out with very much gusto as a matter of policy and finally petered out about a century later. When Ek Jad finally collapsed as well and was required to release its grip on peripheral territories Sassam and Najamur, the Dengun became much more valuable contributors to the society, predominantly as merchants with ties to the newly-thriving market back home in Qildab, propped up by its new trade agreement with the Uvan Empire struck in UT 587. Dengun continue to adopt mercantile roles within the culture, and are known for their characteristic flamboyance in dress and manner - cultural qualities which counterpose interestingly with the drab sensibiliities of the native Jaadi.
