Kakjeukuk
The Kakjeukuk are a proud and ancient tribe that has lived on the island of Sheishal for generations, having migrated from the nation of Qildab centuries ago, around the time of the Reign of the Rainbow Chiefs , and like these ancestors speak Qilaphma, though accented. In this time they have developed a sophisticated culture independent of the traditions of their forebears, and are best known in the region for their advanced knowledge of both agriculture and engineering.
Though there are not many battles to fight these days, the Kakjeukuk are a warrior people, and their society is accordingly organized around a hierarchical system of classes with the warrior ideal at its heart. At the top are the tribal chieftains, who rule over and protect the tribe, both physically, by maintaining a standing army, and spiritually, overseeing its many rituals and ceremonies. Below the nobles are the commoners, who work the land and provide for the tribe in all other ways.
The Kakjeukuk are known for their elaborate religious practices, which revolve around the pantheon of powerful gods and goddesses of the Ocean Plume Temple. These deities are said to be responsible for the many natural phenomena that occur on Sheishal, such as the rising and setting of the sun, the growth of crops, and the coming of the rains.
As mentioned, the Kakjeukuk are also skilled architects and engineers, and their cities are filled with towering pyramids and other impressive structures. These buildings are used for a variety of purposes, including religious rituals, public gatherings, and the storage of the tribe's vast wealth. Sheishal's engineers are often invited to assist in large-scale building projects on mainland Pendahar which bring in a significant income for the island.
