When one speaks of the
Realm of Klar Bimment, it is not just a chapter from the annals of history that unfurls. It's a tale wrapped in frost and fire, touched by time, yet unyielding in its mythical grandeur. The echoing drumbeat of Bimment's reign still reverberates in the blood and bone of the land that was once his dominion. The land has cooled and hardened since then, but the spirit of that legendary era persists, etched into the very soul of
Arlok.
Klar Bimment, the first king, was not a mere mortal, but a giant striding across the pages of history. An unparalleled strategist, an enigmatic leader, and a warrior of legendary prowess, his deeds have transcended into folklore. Klar united warring tribes under his banner, transforming them into a formidable force that stood undeterred against any adversity. His reign marked a golden age of prosperity, peace, and progress, as he harnessed the potential of the land and its people.
Under King Klar's rule, the kingdom expanded from the verdant valleys of what is now
Bimmentok to the icy reaches of present-day
Ret. Back then, these lands were warmer, more welcoming, teeming with life and possibilities. It was said that Klar himself, through a pact with the
old gods, blessed the land with fertility and fair weather, making it a paradise for his people.
Such was the might of the Realm of Klar Bimment that its architectural marvels were said to pierce the skies. The majestic castles of
Thodwinda and
Haravageneglen bore testimony to the kingdom's prowess and the grandeur of its vision. These now-crumbling fortifications hold secrets of the old world, waiting to be discovered by those brave enough to venture into the frost-clad relics of the past.
Trade flourished under King Klar, with the kingdom's abundant natural resources playing a pivotal role. The ancient harbours bustled with traders bartering for seafood, timber, furs, and the famed craftsmanship of the Bimment artisans. This wealth was channeled back into the realm, funding the construction of magnificent structures and nurturing the arts.
Even in its decline, the Realm refused to fade into obscurity. Its spirit survives in the traditions of the
Eskelik and
Ekstru, descendants of those ancient tribes. Some practices, like the Eskelik's intricate wood carving and the Ekstru's community-oriented hospitality, are thought to be echoes of the kingdom's golden age. For these cultures, the age of Klar Bimment might have passed, but its allure remains as timeless as the ancient ruins that stand testament to its glory, beckoning the intrepid and the curious, whispering tales of yore, waiting to reveal its frozen secrets.
Fabled Treasures
Each of these sites carries the promise of adventure, the risk of danger, and the potential for unearthing a piece of the grand legacy of Klar Bimment. Those bold enough to venture into the frozen lands in pursuit of these relics may very well rewrite the history of Arlok:
1.
The Helm of Klar Bimment: Legend says that Klar's helm was imbued with divine protections by the old gods themselves, making the wearer invincible. It was supposedly buried with him in a tomb hidden deep within the
Fingerbone Mountains, shrouded in ice and protected by ancient enchantments.
2.
The Echoing Hall of Uldvinter: Hidden within the cavernous bowels of the mountains near Haravageneglen, the Echoing Hall is said to be a sprawling underground complex adorned with incredible frescoes and carvings that tell the story of Klar's reign. It is believed that the acoustics of the hall can amplify whispers into roars, making it a powerful tool for communication and possibly warfare.
3.
The Heartstone of Bimment: This large, mysterious gemstone was the centerpiece of the royal scepter, believed to be a sacred relic gifted by the earth goddess. Said to pulse with a warmth like a living heartbeat, it was reportedly lost during the kingdom's decline. If found and restored, it could bring great prosperity.
4.
The Ancestral Archives: A vast repository of knowledge hidden beneath the castle of Thodwinda, containing scrolls, maps, and manuscripts detailing the wisdom of the ancient Arloki. From esoteric magical techniques to detailed genealogies of noble families, the information contained within could be invaluable.
5.
The Sunken City of Ulmirk: Once a prosperous harbor city, Ulmirk was consumed by the sea in a massive flood. It is said that the city remains intact beneath the waves, its buildings encrusted with sea-life. A daring explorer could potentially recover lost treasures from its watery depths.
6.
The Caverns of Whispered Lore: Nestled in the highlands of Ret, these ice-encrusted caves are believed to have been a sacred site for the shamans of Klar Bimment. The caverns supposedly hold ancient murals and totems, as well as altars where powerful rituals were performed.
7.
The Obsidian Tower: A mysterious black tower stands on Irfast Isle, untouched by time. Its dark, glassy walls reflect no light and it is cold to the touch. Legends whisper of it being a portal to other worlds or a vault containing the kingdom's greatest treasures. Its entrance remains elusive, with only a chosen few supposedly able to open it.
8.
Klar's Armory: Deep in the wilderness, the ancient armory is thought to contain a cache of incredibly crafted weapons and armor, including the legendary Sword of Klar Bimment, said to cleave stone as easily as it would air.
