Sympathy

A Sympathy is a rare trait among mages, marked by an innate sensitivity to the principles and energies of more than one Tradition. Those with a Sympathy find that they intuitively grasp certain concepts and even basic techniques of another Tradition, though this understanding often comes at a price. Because their minds are naturally tuned to multiple paradigms, they struggle to achieve the singular focus required to reach Grandmastery within any single Tradition. As a result, Sympathies are often seen as “limited” in their primary Tradition, capable of broader comprehension but unable to ascend to the highest ranks of power.
Sympathies make ideal Diplomancers—bridges between Traditions who can understand and translate core ideas without succumbing to Thought Contagion—but they remain a rare and curious exception within each Tradition.
