The Hazatien Calendar
TThe Hazatien Calendar, based on an ancient lunar system developed by the Drakoyan people before they founded their Empire, serves as a cornerstone of the Congregation of the Ascended's religious observance. Originally, the semi-nomadic Drakoyans used the stars not just for navigation but to understand the direction of Fate. This practice allowed them to avoid both physical and spiritual dangers, relying on celestial patterns rather than conventional cardinal points.
In its modern form, the Hazatien Calendar is employed by the Ascended faith, where the Tellers—spiritual leaders skilled in interpreting sacred signs —use it as a heavenly map for religious rituals. A year in the Hazatien Calendar is termed a "Revolution," a poetic reflection of the caravan's journey through life’s stages. Spring (Heminna) symbolizes birth and fertility, Summer (Cyruin) represents the pilgrimage and self-discovery, Autumn (Keliget) signifies settling down and family life, and Winter (Essala) denotes death and the soul’s final reckoning.
Each month is governed by major Aspects, celestial archetypes that impart specific traits and fates to individuals born under their influence. For example, one born under the Aspect of the Troubadour might be imbued with creativity and inspiration. The Tellers guide the faithful in aligning their lives with these Aspects, interpreting their movements through the heavens.
The days of the week—Apparan, Isiz, Egro, Maimu, Sheausa, Gransfulga, and Facartal—each hold their own spiritual significance, shaping the daily practices and rituals of the Congregation. Through weekly services, seasonal festivals, and personal reflection guided by the Tellers, adherents strive to walk the path of Ascension, seeking to grow closer to their governing Aspects and fulfill their fated purpose.
This calendar not only structures time but also weaves together the physical and spiritual, guiding the faithful through the cycles of life in harmony with the cosmos.
