Wengkt

The Wengkt are one of many indigenous groups that call the land of Arlok home. They are a Tashmiij-speaking people, found primarily in the southern region of Aupek.   Along with most other native groups on the continent, the Wengkt are semi-nomadic: they follow the seasons and availability of resources as they migrate from one area to another, and do not share the same concept of land ownership as do the non-indigenous inhabitants of nearby nations, the boundaries of their territories considered ultimately flexible. At the same time, the Wengkt have proven slightly more wont to settle in one place than Aupek's other two tribes, the Jisadehou and the Sawjeh, and this fact has resulted in their people consolidating in and around the nation's capital of Araknish. Though their ruling structure insists that all parties living on the land have equal say, the sheer preponderance of the Wengkt has granted them status as the area's default governors.   They are a deeply spiritual people, with a strong connection to the natural world and a deep respect for the land and its resources, and hold to a set of beliefs and practices referred to collectively as Áɦkumátúwo in Tashmiij, or The Great Path of Root & RIver, but are unique in that they weave in elements of Läänti Ascendism into their practice; this adoption however is thought by many to be a sort of formal play to facilitate statecraft in the context of their Farang competitors.   The Wengkt are especially skilled artisans, creating beautiful handcrafted items such as baskets, carvings, and clothing made from natural materials.   Despite the many changes that have occurred in Arlok in recent years and the adaptations they have made to overcome them, the Wengkt have managed to remain true to their traditions and values. They continue to live in harmony with the land and its resources, and work to preserve their rich cultural heritage for future generations.

Good little article. The cultural middle reference with all being equal in the land is a nice cultural detail of philosophy.
