Korpas Doom

The nefarious Korpa

In the northern hills, lies a place that once represented great evil. An old ruin stands in its place, still aching and oozing out ichor from the battle fought there. Almost five hundred years ago, King Ruy I, formerly known as Ruy Terána confronted the evil necromancer Korpa, after a long campaign in which he had first freed the lands south of the Morin and then pushed north, deep into the lawless lands. After a long and arduous track, with many losses, they arrived at the necromancers lair.

The battle

What exactly took place here is lost to the legends of Aruëls founding. Most sources agree however, that the Necromancer had drawn together most undead on the continent, all of them dominated by his foul spells, to serve his needs. Ruy I and his followers on the other hand had the combined fury of the newly organized faith of the Trinity at their becking. Both sides unleashed almost cataclysmic levels of spellcraft and power, enough to melt rock and sear black soot so deep into the stone it will never be fully washed out by the rain.

Ruins remaining

Today, this ruin is a testament to the founding might of Aruël, and to the power of their faith. New acolytes to the faith are taken to this very ruin to witness the might of their goddesses. Most of the once mighty fortress is now only rubble, but the main gate still stands, the metal from the doors still bent and twisted out of shape rusting away slowly until one day nothing will testify to the blow that tore it asunder.   The more preserved parts of Korpas Doom are the tunnels below ground. Here, stone and earth are sometimes wavy and flowing, sand turned to glass as if an inferno once licked through the tight, twisting tunnels and mazelike catacombs. This cleansing flame is part of the reason most people to this day have not seen a true undead, as all of the ones who had existed prior to this event had congregated and then been destroyed right here.

This is a beautiful description: 'still aching and oozing out ichor'.
