Sunspell Ministry
The Sunspell Ministry is the official religious institution of the Goddess of Magic and Sun, Aria. The Ministry was founded on the 21st of October, 3059 AT by Bojac Tesroc. Its headquarters is located in the Cliff Ward in the city of Alesaron, Talevesh.
About one year before the founding of the Sunspell Ministry, Bojac Tesroc was a part of the Wild Tamers adventure party. During this time the party was working with the Dawnpool Council in order to stop the Cult of the Dragon from freeing Tiamat from her prison in Avernus. In a dire moment during the final battle between the Wild Tamers and Tiamat. Bojac Tesroc needed to wield the strength of the artifact Khrusor, Sword of Aria to damage through Tiamat’s Antimagic field. In order to use the sword and attune to it quickly, Aria gave Bojac a proposal. In which Bojac must become a devout priest of Aria and start a new official religion in her image. Bojac accepted the Goddess’s proposal, promising to do as she says. He would then use the sword to some effect against Tiamat.
After Tiamat was defeated, Bojac kept his promise and began preparations for the design of Aria’s religion. After a year's worth of negotiating with several other sects of Aria the Sunspell Ministry was founded.
The Sunspell Ministry has three main branches that correspond with each of the most significant Authorities of Aria, these being: Magic, Sun, and Emotions. These branches each handle their own part of the religion, while still preaching the same general religious material. Each branch specializes in helping people with the grace and power of Aria in their own specific Authorities. The branches are simply named after the Authorities in which they specialize in: Magic Ministry, Sun Ministry, and Emotion Ministry.
The three branches are then administered by the Supreme Sun Ministry from the Sunspell Ministry’s headquarters and are led by the Prime Minister (currently Bojac Tesroc) and their cabinet of Sunspell Clergy. Each branch is led by a group of High Clerics that each oversee their own Church of Aria. Currently the number of churches are small, but they are building many more every year.
How each Church works is that they each are administered by one of the three branches of the Sunspell Ministry. Each branch then selects a High Cleric to lead the Church and will use the power of Aria and the teachings of their branch to help devotees with their specific Authorities. But, while each of the branches teach their own practice of the Authorities of Aria, they all follow the same religious teaching given to them by the Supreme Sun Ministry.
The reason for the three branch system is how the Sunspell Ministry was founded. In order to fully represent the Goddess, Bojac Tesroc negotiated with many sects of Aria. Naturally however, each one of them had their own specific teachings about Aria. Usually one sect would focus on representing one of the Authorities of Aria like Sun or Magic. Many of the sects were unwilling to simply give up on their current teachings for Bojac’s new ones. So, Bojac created the three branches in order to appease the sects by allowing them to continue some of their original practices on the Authorities of Aria. While simultaneously unifying all of the sects into one general form of religious practice.
