Not much is known about Vecna’s family or his childhood. However, when Vecna was 12 years old, his life and the lives of many others changed forever. Monsters of unseats and shadows started pouring into the material plane from the Shadowfell and the Abyss. Vecna’s home and family were killed by the monsters and he lived as a refugee in the chaotic world. After a few difficult weeks and experiences, Vecna would stumble upon a powerful archmage who was fighting the war against the monsters, Ocram. The archmage of the solarian armies took in Vecna and many other refugees. Ocram would immediately notice magical potential in the boy, he would take Vecna as his apprentice and would soon give him a spot along with several other mages within Lapidus’s growing army. Vecna would gain much experience in his time fighting in the Shadow War. he would learn many powerful magics and make several allies. Including, a powerful soldier and his future co-leader, Kas. During the war, Vecna would participate in the final battle against the Origin God “The Blighted Secret”. In this battle Vecna and the God of Secrets met in a private setting. Here, Etholos would tempt Vecna into learning one of his divine secrets. After the war, Lapidus ascended and left the post war world without a leader or any major nations. Vecna, with his knowledge from Etholos, would try to create his own dominion to have the power to uncover those secrets. He would ask for help from Kas, now a paladin of Lapidus, to create a new nation in the world of chaos. Initially, Kas wanted to help his comrade thinking that Vecna just wanted to create an orderly world. However, after a few years of them gaining power in the region that is now the Farghul Heartlands, Kas started to suspect evil intentions from Vecna. As Vecna had followed the clues given to him and found a book filled with the evil knowledge of the God of Secrets. With this book he started to experiment with all kinds of necromantic and divine magic. After a few years Venca's experiments became more and more evil as the book slowly corrupted him. Through his sentient artifact sword, Kas would find out about these experiments. The sword and his own morals told Kas that he had to convince Vecna to stop leaning into the book’s secrets. He would prepare their kingdom behind Vecna’s back before he went to confront his friend. During the confrontation Kas tried to sway Vecna away from the evils of the book. But it was no use, Vecna was addicted to finding out how to use the secrets from the book to make himself immortal or even a god. So, Kas struck his friend down, costing Vecna his left eye and left hand. Plus, the book of secrets which Kas renamed the Book of Vile Darkness. Using his final bit of strength Vecna casted Kas out of the mortal plane sending him down into the Fourth Plane of Death while transporting himself to an unknown part of the mortal plane. For many years afterward, Vecna would try to continue his works of evil. He would try to find the Book of Vile Darkness, his left hand and eye, and find the remnants of the “The Blighted Secret”. When Venca was 45 years old, he would complete one of the experiments of the Book of Vile Darkness, revealing the truth that it had left. The secret to undeath, a way for a mortal to die in a specific way and come back to life as an immortal undead. Vecna, as soon as he gained this knowledge, tried it on himself. He died and successfully came back to life as the first ever lich. After a few hundred years of being an evil lich, Venca found Etholos, the the Origin God who started the Shadow War told him one last secret before telling Vecna to finally kill him. Vecna obliged without hesitation. Leaving him to claim the Divine Authorities that Etholos left behind. Vecna would then become the God of Secrets and Eternal Darkness. From this sixth deification of a “mortal” an enraged Tiamat would start her domination upon the mortal plane. Venca would go into hiding, not wanting to get involved with the 5 Guardian Gods, so he could slowly grow his power. Vecna would continue to try to find his left eye and left hand along with the Book of Vile Darkness. After Tiamat was defeated by the 4 Dragon Champions, Venca was given the opportunity by Dainslief to join the Pantheon. He accepted the offer just to avoid the God King’s wrath. Most recently in the year 3048 AT, Venca tried to establish his power in Limbo. However, he was stopped by an unusual assortment of 4 heroes. Vankarg, Lede, Groda, and the future Lord of Limbo, Zio Yain. They stripped him of much of his power as Zio Yain stole the Book of Vile Darkness from Vecna.Relationships -
