Fellhammers
Exiles who betrayed their oath to Ghal Ankhar, who took up arms against their kingdom and who bear the name of the dwarven dishonored. And yet, I've never known more noble hearts than those that beat in the chest of the Fellhammers and their allies.
Among dwarven society there is a punishment that many would say is harsher than even a death sentence. The Dishonor of Ash, as it is known among the Ghal Ankharan people is nothing less than the total scouring of one's family name from history. Such a punishment is rarely employed and reserved only for the most heinous of crimes. That is why it was a surprise see this grim condemnation bestowed upon clan tasked with protecting the dwarven mining operation near the Rylan Woods so many long centuries ago.
The dwarven king who ruled Ghal Ankhar during the time of the mining expedition offered the land and lordship in exchange for the martial skills of this famous warrior family. However, through circumstance or willful deception that promise was not honored. The land was instead used as a bargaining chip in trade negotiations between Ghal Ankhar and Balmoral. The warrior clan protested but their arguments fell upon deaf ears. The King had spoken and the noble lords whose coffers were to be filled by the profits of this trade pact supported the decree. When the warrior clan threatened to take their plight to a public forum the outraged King of Ghal Ankhar invoked the Dishonor of Ash, a punishment that had not be levied in over two centuries and certainly not one that had ever been decreed for such a minor transgression as this. Many in the dwarven mountains suspected there was more behind the severity of the punishment than was openly known. For some, rumors that the warrior clan were planning a coup against the King or a hostile invasion of the land they were promises seemed likely enough. Others believed that the clan was privy to some secret shame of the King and that he feared it would be brought to light if this dispute was laid bare for the community to see. In either case the result was same, the clan's old name burned from the pages of history and chiseled from any rock it was laid upon. Their property was seized and the people themselves were forced into exile. The new name hefted upon them was one of disgrace and resentment used only to brand those of the heinous of treachery. Fellhammer.
The story of these once proud dwarves is lost until recent years when ancestors of the original clan leaders resurfaced. Led by the distant kin of the clan's last surviving lord, they took it upon themselves to reclaim the land promised to them and to satisfy the wrong done to their people. Only then would they feel they earned the right to use the name of their clan once more. The result of this oath has led them to invade the ruins of old Fort Tycon which now stands on the patch of land that was to be theirs. Though only six of the dwarven Fellhammers remain they took the fort and forced out the small garrison there with the help of about a dozen or so other misfit adventurers.
The last dwarven Fellhammers have taken it upon themselves to be the sort of champions that their ancestors would have wanted of them. In their travels to reclaim their name they never denied those in need of aid. Small communities and individuals have come to owe the Fellhammers their lives and many of those they met along the way have joined with the dwarves. What started as six old soldiers looking to fulfill a promise has evolved into a small company of courageous individuals hoping to reignite the fires of hope that the clan once stood for.
Structure
The six dwarves with the last of the original clan's blood make of the leaders of the small organization. Among them it is Rodogun who leads. He alone is the most direct descendant to the last lord of the clan. Rodogun is also the most skilled, courageous and honorable of the lot and as such best represents the ideals of the old clan.
Public Agenda
Restore the name of the original clan and take back their ancestral homeland. Uphold the ideals of the old clan and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Assets
Few. The dwarves possess many old weapons, armors and relics passed down to them through the ages. The ancient storehouses of their ancestors were said to hold powerful treasures the likes of which modern Tairos has not seen but these wonders are now in the hands of old clan's many dwarven rivals. Or worse, collectors who have sense of their true worth and only wish to display them as trophies and conversation pieces.
