S01E01 - Welcome to Ridley's Prospect
...and what is that horrible mountain of flesh!?
General Summary
Kamose and Toki arrive via Wagon to the outskirts of Ridley's Prospect. They travel with the wagon master and 4 other people who are looking to make something of themselves in the frontier settlement. While stopping to repair a broken wagon wheel, they are attacked by a woman who is capable of becoming invisible while saying she's magically tracked them here for a key matching the description of Liesl's key given to Kamose. Burt and Kamose sneak up to attack her, they soon find that she is not alone, she's brought a Gibbering Mouther with her and it is attacking the trail-hands, Wagonmaster Lhurk, and Toki while enchanting them with its horror.
The attack on the elongated pale woman loosen her control on the Mouther and it attacks her as well, driving her off into the woods. It's inky spit blinds several trail-hands, and the lecher Quincy is terrified enough to run off into the woods in the other direction. Against better judgement, the musician Sorina chases after him as well. Lhurk is downed and two trail-hands are killed by the beast before the remaining people can manage to slay it, secretly, Kamose heals Lhurk and he and the experience soldier Felica give chase to Quincy and Sorina while Toki chases a trail-hand who loses his nerve coming out of his stupor and truly seeing the horror.
Toki has to contend with a Giant Frog to save the hand, and drives it off with a few attacks. Kamose and Felica aren't as lucky, they catch up with Quincy who is beset by 3 wolves and though they slay and drive off two of them, the 3rd downs Kamose, while Quincy's nerve manages to keep him afraid and on the run. Felicia kills the wolf, stabilizes Kamose and calls for help where Toki attends and assists bringing him back to the wagons.
After coming to, Lhurk offers a company healing potion in exchange for the work done and declares he'd like to leave as soon as possible but agrees to give 45 minutes to find the other passengers while he and the remaining hands set back to replacing the wagon wheel. In the woods, Toki finds Sorina's trail leading to a small cave protected by a spiked pit trap, inside 3 Kobolds are attempting to prevent the elf from dying while tying her up but aren't affecting much success. The three travelers slay them in quick succession and tend to her wounds and find some bags of Kobold-looted campe supplies and some mud with healing properties, Kamose assesses this is likely due to some enchanted water.
Resuming the trail from the wolf encounter, the group also finds some owlbear markings but then finds Quincy alone in a glade, finally having cleared his eyes completely of the ink. He moves to join the 4 travelers but is attacked by the Giant Frog. Quickly causing the Frog to cough up Quincy, Toki casts a spell to communicate with the frog and offers an exchange for our lives and the sure conflict the 3 mostly healthy combatants would give him. The Frog agrees to get the fresh kobold corpses instead and takes the rest of Felica's healing kit. It leads Toki to a shallow pond where an ancient clanker lays rusting but not so heavy it could not be dredged out.
Returning the carts, they set out for Ridley's Prospect, with a brief stop at a security checkpoint, Tycorin Outpost, where they were informed of an Owlbear bounty offered by the Lieutenant Vellin on duty there. Burt, Sorina, and Felica set out for the tent city for lodging while Toki and Kamose paid for a room within Wretched Nutmeg Inn to secure their possessions and the clanker while they rested for the evening until they could decide what to do next.
