Benai-zhu-heret

(a.k.a. Fire-Above-Us)

Benai-zhu-heret, literally: “fire above us”, is a Goddess of the sun. Together with her daughter, Benai-ash-heret, she forms the dualistic pantheon of the Faith of Divine Fire.   Benai-zhu-heret is regarded as the ruler of the cosmos and the divine mother. According to myth, she led humanity out of the primordial darkness at the beginning of time and taught them writing, agriculture, animal husbandry and how to work iron. In order to further help humans, she gave birth to Benai-ash-heret and send her to live amongst them.
As a goddess, she represents the highest (and thus unreachable) ideals of humanity. She stands for purity, wisdom, justice and strength and her worshipers spend their days in constant pursuit of these virtues. Like the stars, the perfection of Benai-zhu-heret is not supposed to be reached – but it is a guiding light. Benai-zhu-heret will not accept halfhearted worship and her clergy frowns on any kind of frivolity or carelessness.
As Queen of the Heavens, she is the patron of rulers and civilization.
Like her daughter, she is also venerated as a love goddess. In this role, she stands for love at its most transcendent: Pure, near-divine and earth-shattering. Enduring love between old couples or the love among family members also fall under her domain.
