The Seven Saints

"And on the third moon of the third month, Saint Airgid summoned their mighty host to their side.   Their Saints cried 'What shall we do, O Holy One? How shall we maintain a legacy?'   And they said to their Saints: 'Do not be afraid, for I have a plan. We shall take stone from the earth and build it higher than the highest mountain so we may see with eyes unclouded. We will set watchers on the walls and bring greatness into our hall. We will teach, we will grow - we will cement our Conquest as righteous and true. For we are Saints, and we shall reap what we have sown.'"
Sainthood, Unknown Author, c. 100 T.B.
The Seven Saints are the seven individuals said to have founded The Faith of The Spire in the aftermath of The Conquest. Paragons of their time, these individuals are claimed to be the heralds of a golden age for the Tieflings of Talamh. As spiritual leaders and cultural icons, the Saints still inform the life-ways and systems of the Tief of today. Counted as the most holy amongst these is Saint Airgid, said to be greatest hand behind the modern Tiefling rule of East Talamh.   In the West, these individuals are known as The Seven Conquerors or The Seven Demons. Legends abound of their cruelty, strange dealings, and hatred for the Fey. While little records exist to corroborate this interpretation, the cultural conscience of the Fey frames these individuals as beings bent on their society's destruction

Saint Airgid

Known as the Highest Saint and Holy One, Saint Airgid is the patron of lawmakers, prophets, and rulers. The first and only Archbishop of The Spire, Saint Airgid is credited with both starting and finishing the Conquest with their Silver Legions, earning them the moniker of 'Silver-Crowned'. They are most closely associated with Mac Rialor, the Monarch. Wielder of the Cold Iron Silver Relic Gaolbreaker. In the modern day, Highclan Domhain claims descendance from them.

Saint Derua

Saint Derua is the patron of guardians, warriors, and protectors. Said to be the greatest warrior of her time, a knight paragon with no equal. In the modern day, Clan Cuthbad claims descendance from her.

Saint Umha

Saint Umha is the patron of craftsmen, laborers, and the commonwealth. A priest with a kind heart and firm hand that guided the creation of The Spire itself. They are most closely associated with Owyn, the Muse.

Saint Gorm

Saint Gorm is the patron of seafarers, tradesmen, and orphans. He is remembered as a prickly yet invaluable Saint and commander. Legend says he was orphaned at a young age, accounting for his rough exterior when juxtaposed with the other Saints.

Saint Bengall

Saint Bengall is the patron of scholars, students, and lovers. A holy woman with of no parallel, she is believed to have begun the institution of marriage and laid the foundation of the Clan System for East Talamh.

Saint Or

Saint Or is the patron of artists, creatives, and the downtrodden. A strong yet vulnerable soul, Saint Or is believed to have guided Tiefling Clan culture into something resembling its modern synthesis.

Saint Glasuaine

Saint Glausaine is the patron of farmers, animals, and nature. The most mysterious Saint among the Seven, Glasuaine was instrumental in shaping the land to the will of the Tief. In 140 T.B., she disappeared near Godstone Oisin on the Field of Morgarrai. In the following year, a great forest began springing up from this blasted land that would come to be called The Runewood. She is most closely associated with Oisin, the Caretaker.

A Legacy of Sainthood

Some of the major actors in East Talamh trace their origin back to the Saints themselves. Highclan Domhain is known to be descended from Saint Airgid while many other modern Clans including Moen and Ardanach are descended from the other six.   In addition to fighting during the Conquest, the Saints seem to have secured longer lives. Saint Glasuaine alone was documented to have been over 300 years old at the time of her disappearance. Despite this, no Saint achieved immortality - by the year 150 T.B., all seven passed into the next world. The bodies of the recovered Saints are said to be held deep within the Hallowed Crypt, the deepest chamber within The Spire itself.

The Catechism Debate

While only Seven Talish Saints have been officially raised, a variety of individuals have risen to pseudo-Sainthood with varying acknowledgement by The Spire. Some of these have been elevated to the rank of Magi or even Archcastellan, while others have simply been rejected by the Faith.   Chief among these is a mysterious figure known as 'The Apostle'. Said to have lived during the Conquest, their fate is unknown. However, it is said that they were a close companion of Airgid's instrumental in reconstruction efforts following the massive destruction in East Talamh post-Conquest.
